Could the rat keyword be removed from the fur rucksucks you get from auntie glimbell in the rat-hill?

It gets easy to forget and has been the cause of me giving it to random people when i was shuffling around rat fur spell conponent or anything like rations or somesuch.

I feel like it's counterproductive to remove the keyword 'rat' from a rucksack made of rat furs.

I'm not certain how often it would come up to be shuffling a rat fur component - as A: There are many fur component items and B: Most people use the target of 'fur' when someone asks for 'fur'.

It's a mistake a player will usually make once, and then never again. If it is a recurring issue for you, there are a great many other container items you could use.

I think both 'rat' and 'fur' should be removed from the rucksack. When Terageld was little, he would collect spell components for Auntie. After spamming the enter key, he would hand five tuffs of rat fur to Auntie, receiving two silver coins each. On the last key press, Terry gives the entire rucksack to Auntie. Auntie then refuses to give it back while Terageld runs circles around her, crying and yelling childish insults, most of which involve excrement of some kind (which is another component that Auntie often seeks).

wot. remove rat and fur from the rat fur rucksack? It's a rat fur rucksack. Fewer keywords make it harder to toggle if you have multiple items with common keywords.

I just set an alias for the item when I was using it. Its sort of like when I hand off things of importance I always make sure to type the full name, though I make mistakes like everyone.

If you paid attention to the dialogue when you received it, it tells you how the fur it's made of is rat's fur. That would be the:

made of a short shiny brown black fur.

I think it's fairly straight-forward and self-explanatory to be honest, but a case could be made for explicitly adding 'rat' to the item's extra desc?

Please be sure to pay attention during quests. That rucksack is very, very much rat fur.

I know, but I'm guessing people don't really type "rat" or "fur" when referring to the rucksack. Most people type "rucksack" or "ruck", which hasn't interfered with any other item that I've seen.

I was hoping my post would point out that name tags for items is very much an OOC thing and shouldn't depend on IC circumstance on the creation of the item.... otherwise why not apply Sand tag to every item made of glass.

I'm not a builder here, but in other places a sane rule has been that if it doesn't appear in the name or desc of the item it shouldn't be tagged to it.

Besides, believe it or not, not everyone actually does that quest and i've seen them flapping around in shops and on the ground so not everyone would know, if thats what matters.

Rat is not an ooc tag. The bag is made of rat pelts. Thus it is not an "ooc keyword".

I can sort of see his point in this. If it's not in the short or long desc then it probably shouldn't be a keyword.

But at this point, who knows how many players have actually included that keyword in their aliases? By changing it you're probably causing grief for some other players just to avoid someone from very occasionally handing over the rucksack to Auntie by mistake.

A mistake which could fairly easily be solved if your rucksack is that important to you.

If people's aliases is what your concerned about. Perhaps its worht considering that the number of players currently playing is finite whilst the number of new players in the future is hopefully infinite.... which group should a tiny change like this serve more?

Anyway, If peeps are unwilling to rem the rat keyword then I'd atleast like rat to be added somewhere in the long or short desc or both. My view here is that keywords should always appear somewhere visible to avoid headaches.

If the team decide to let this alone and not shift it should I not report any other similar instances then? Because off the top of my head there are a couple of NPCs I've come across with the same and I couldn't understand why other than mishap this kind of stuff happens.

You could always just not use that bag, and find another? Or apply to have your bag tailored to your needs? It doesn't seem logical in this instance to change, remove, or modify based on one complaint.

When the infinity newbs show up, they can post here if it turns out to be an extremely immersion-breaking problem. The group we have to observe is the current playerbase, which from the look of this thread, doesn't really see why this is such a huge issue. The rat fur rucksack has the keyword 'rat' in it. Changing it serves literally nobody, not the current playerbase, and in the foreseeable future, not the infinity newbs. I've seen multiple times where a new player handed an item to an NPC, and the immortals have interceded on their behalf with little enough trouble.

The keyword logically fits the item, given what it is. It is one bag, from one quest, out of a game made up of hundreds of bags and thousands of items. I'm only still posting here because this thread is hilarious to me, but I can't imagine anyone taking something like this so seriously.

I feel as if we've come to an impasse. I see no reason to remove the keyword from the base object (I do not subscribe to the "keywords only from descriptions in every case" theory). I also see no further use in kicking the same verbal football back and forth.
