The Wyld Emerald Festival

Post by Nearraba » Fri Mar 13, 2015 3:41 am

To the Children of the Wylds and to all whom name themselves ally to the Mielikkian Church:

We send missive to you in invitation. Come, walk the wyld paths in the High Forest and join the Church of Mielikki in a celebration of the Wyld Emerald Festival!

There will a sparing competition lead by Druid Alerehin.
-No metal armours will be permissible by those competing.
-Spells and prayers, which effect the area in whole, will not be allowed as
there will be spectators.
-Those gifted of the weave, may only use two personal spells before the spar begins.
-If the above is not followed, registrants will forfeit their place in competition.

An archery competition will be lead by Needle Cadyf.
-Bows are the only weapons selected for this archery competition.

Sacred items of the Church will be awarded to the Champions claiming both second and
first place in either event.

A feast of celebration will follow. You do not need to compete to attend the feast.
Also during this time, prelate of the Church, Conjurer Renduil Telethmyr will offer
his ability to teach chosen spells of wizardry.

If you are interested in either the archery competition or sparring competition (or both,) register your name with myself or the Conjurer Renduil and that with which event you'd like to compete in. There is no sum required to compete and none either required to gather for the following celebration.

Whether it is the companionship or competition that brings you, the flock and I look forward to your sights.

- Nearraba Matrain, Forestarm of Mielikki

OOC Notes:

- Please register names before the event, so we know how many characters to expect.
- Rangers are encouraged to attend!
- There are no racial/faith restriction, but please keep in mind this is sponsored by Mielikkians.
- Sparing will consist of 3 rounds on killmode spar by both parties and then to killmode stun.

I'm gonna be in an airplane at the time. If I can get that in-flight WiFi to work, I'll do some sparring. By the way, can I use my bastard sword or must I get a rapier?

Why would you have to get a rapier? I did not see anything about that in the post.

It said "no metal armors." I figured it was a renaissance-esque sparring contest with rapiers and finely oiled mustaches. I like to dress for the occasion and look the part. If it's a gladiator match, then I bring a battle axe. If it's a locker room brawl, I'll bring shaving cream and a wet, rolled-up towel. :P

Oil your mustaches as you will.

There are no weapon restrictions. Simply, no metal armour as it will be in the middle of the forest and held by Mielikkians who follow her ethos by mostly staying away from said metal armour.

This sounds like a blast! I'll most likely attend with my Ghostwise halfling(Mungo) of the Yondallan church.
Will slings be allowed in the archery competition?

Keeping with Mungo's question, what about crossbows?

Bows only, please. :) Crossbows, yes. Slings, no.

Also! This will be going on next weekend. We've only had a small handful of people register their interest with Near & Rend, but there's still time to do so, if you would like to enter. There aren't any level restrictions either, so if you'd like to just participate for fun, we'd love to have you!

Sorry for the delay, I see Nearraba has already answered the question. Yes, only bows. OOCly I wouldn't mind slings, but in a realistic sense, I'm not sure how you would be able to judge where you landed a bullet with a sling into a target.

A painted rock, or one coated in colored powder? Not that I disagree with what you're all saying that it should be archery-only, it was just a thought!

Small adjustment! Location will be in Neverwinter, instead of the High Forest! If you're unsure where this is, you can send a tell to Renduil, Cadyf or Nearraba, if no one else. :) See everyone, soon!

Thank you again to everyone who organized this and attended! I enjoyed the tournament a great deal and liked seeing pieces of roleplays surfacing here and there.

See you all around soon!

This was great! Archery was very fun. Sorry I couldn't attend the sparring, though.

Sorry I missed this! Last minute trip to Boston meant I needed to get to bed crazy early.
