Donation Bag
Donation Bag
I've thought long and hard about this…
Remember that bag that appeared one day in Market Square? It was labeled "One per adventurer." I thought this was a great idea, especially because of the fact that one cannot take the entire bag. When the bag disappeared, I went to the east, bought some cool goodies, and set a new bag in Market Square. The new bag was gone in ten minutes.
Can the imms nail down a donation bin in Market Square for us? I feel like this would give our newbie players more support.

Re: Donation Bag
I could get down with this, though it could be very easily abused. I've played other games in which this sort of thing is available, and basically people just have not to be greedy or anything. Other than that, it works pretty well. It helps newbies most, as even many of the less experienced players are able to get their hands on respectable gear/food/money/whatever else people might donate.
I wouldn't suggest keeping it in the WD square, though. Maybe in one of the Dripping Dagger's rooms, as that's where much of the new adventurer population gets its start.

Re: Donation Bag
All of this. I think it's an awesome idea. Last game I was on, an IMM emptied it out once a week with a purge and just reloaded the vnum in the room. Dripping Dagger is a better option in WD, all start there, anyhow. Maybe even just west of the main room so RP can still resume there without spam.dolifer wrote:I could get down with this, though it could be very easily abused. Re: Donation Bag
We'll give this try. Donation crate added to the Dripping Dagger.
A goblin, a trickster, a warrior? A nameless terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. A most feared being in all the cosmos. Nothing could stop, hold, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Re: Donation Bag
Personally, I like the idea of the market square better, for a couple of reasons. First, new characters will often go there for rp, even if they aren't from WD. Second, things can be put in there that are useful for others who are not necessarily new. For example, the box currently at market square had air shards in it, which newbies wouldn't necessarily need but come in handy for other characters.
As far as people running off with it, that's certainly possible, but there has been a chest at the market square for two days now and it's stayed there. When I put the first one there, I put a parchment in it mentioning the purpose, and people have been respecting that. I've been very happy to see it used! Also, older players will see it there and might be reminded that, oh yeah, I have this other thing I can put in that. I'd really like to see a nailed down one there at the MS.

Re: Donation Bag
It's much better where it was placed - not just newbies go to Market Square for RP, most players do. So while you're rping it would often wind up like this:
Shelia smiles at Bob, "Thank you"
Joe gets x from box.
Bob nods, "You're welcome."
Joe puts x in box.
Joe gets x from box.
Joe wears x.
Shelia asks Bob, "Do you like pie?"
Joe removes x.
Joe puts x in box.
Bob hmms, "Pie is nice."
Joe gets x from box.
Joe puts x in bag.
Etc.

Beshaba potatoes.
Re: Donation Bag
Mmmm pie.
Re: Donation Bag
Ok, fair enough. Might take a bit of getting used to, but I think it's worth it.
Except... Now the donation box in the inn is gone too? Intentional? Can we get it back? With the MS chest gone one of my characters was going to drop off a couple of things only to find it gone from the inn as well.
