I'm hoping maybe someone can help me out here as I'm experiencing something strange with connecting to FK, and the website.
Last night at some point my FK connection started dropping me repeatedly, and it would wait anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes before it would allow me to reach the log in screen. I thought this was strange, and possibly due to my internet. So I rebooted my router, and fixed the connection, then tried again. This didn't resolve the issue. So I let it be, and logged in this morning. Now I cannot connect to the website except with sporatic refreshes, and connection to FK through zmud isn't stable. I'm on for a few seconds before it boots me again. It's acting like a mud crash, but others have said they are still connected.
Does anyone have a suggestion to help fix this? It's strange to just have it come out of no where. Everything else works on my internet connection except for FK.

Re: FK Connectivity
Hmm... I've been getting 30 second lag spikes for the last few weeks. I thought that was just me, since I'm playing on a mobile card and located so far away from the server.

Re: FK Connectivity
I had a one-off episode a week or two ago where I could not connect to the MUD or the website. My internet connection was find and I was able to access all other websites. I deleted cookies and everything. After twenty minutes of screwing with it, it simply fixed itself. Not sure what all happened.

And that happens too. I remember Sunday, March 1st, FK was down the entire day. There was an event I promised to be at and my internet broke at home. I had to trek through the snow (because it snows in spring in Cleveland) to the library. When I got there, FK was down.

At the time this happened, I was able to determine from other players that the game was still active.Terageld wrote:And that happens too. I remember Sunday, March 1st, FK was down the entire day. Re: FK Connectivity
It took me hours of googling, and I'm crossing fingers and toes here, I think maybe I got it fixed. I did the clearing of cookies, and caches, I even restored to an earlier point just in case I screwed something up, or hit something I don't remember, and had to fix something with the localhost in a driver file due to it just being one website. I finally got frustrated, and left it for awhile, came back to it working again. I hope this doesn't keep up. Internet is frustrating.
Thanks for the input! I wonder if something is going on server side with the lag. I've had a few bad lag spikes this week myself.

Re: FK Connectivity
I move around a lot and connect to the MUD from many different connections. I've found that certain of the ports are blocked in different places. 23, 80, 443 and 4000 are the ones FK listen to if I'm not mistaken, and out of the four, I find that 443 is most often available.
Just in case anyone is using a public network, work network, etc.

Thank you for those. It's good information to have. I'll put those in a sticky note to keep.
