Wizard/Rogue hybrids. Exclusively evil and mostly insane with the quest to achieve more power and prestige.
They are mostly wizard, but have a little thief about them to assist in beguiling gullibles and stealing from other wizards. The thief part also comes in handy when the wizarding part turns into an escaping part.
My only reason is that it is fun. You have spells and items to complement your roguish ways and you have roguish ways to complement your escape when you run out of spells.

Usually the balance of those kinds of classes are the other way around, E.g. Arcane trickster, A lot of rogue and only a little wizard. It'd be nice to play a game where the reverse is true though yes.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Wizard cleric mix like Mystic theurge or some such so far. Or arcane cannons like Warlocks that can just keep blasting all day... pew pew

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!
Re: Favourite character class and why
Warlock is honestly the Wizard + Rogue mixture (in 3.5e at least). And Mystic Theurge is admittedly a very painful class to join- and not a very good one in the end result compared to a simple 20 Level. It certainly is flavorful, though- despite how hard it is to get into in a regular campaign where you don't just start as one.Yemin wrote:Usually the balance of those kinds of classes are the other way around, E.g. EDIT: Messed up and said Wizard + Warlock, HURRRR
This is the kind of thing that makes the Gods think we're fools.

Never thought of 3.5 warlocks like that actually. But now that you mention it... they do arcane stuff, they get crazy amount of skill bonuses... they can be the face of the party. The one time I played a warlock for 2 sessions, I had something silly like +26 to UMD and the ability to take 10 almost at anytime. +16 to my knowledges and a few other things at level 4
Sounds easy to make them lock pickers and stealthers with a few points moved around.
Ok... So is anyone a fan of tactical fighters? or monks I suppose. The kind that have poor damage output but in one round One guy is tripped onto his face, another is disarmed and the third is grappled and having his face beat, or has been tossed 20 feet that way?
Includes whip users that just keep dodging and tripping, stuff like that.

Tactical fighters are my type of fighter. All the best pirates are tactical fighters. I'm all for flashy moves and using urban environment to my advantage and hilarious antics.

Kind of reminds me of the golden voyage of sinbad actually now that I think about it.
Or well, pirates of the caribbean if people aren't cool enough to remember sinbad.
