Adjusting consumables price

Post by Woror » Sun Nov 01, 2015 8:02 pm

Could be the price of consumables (Scrolls & Potions) sold by mobs made cheaper?

55 platinum for a potion of recall seems a bit too much.

Aye, I have noticed the steep potions prices when buying from NPCs. I think this was to encourage wizards and priests to brew and sell their own potions to meet the demands of warriors and rogues. So far that's worked alright. Better going to your local priest for a triple cure serious potion than hand over fourteen platinum to a mob for an ugly green decanter of cure minor.
Recall potions are the exception. They should be marked down a little.

The price for recall potions is fair, I think. Not a whole lot in the scheme of things, and especially when you consider the meriad horrible situations they can get one away from. They're not meant to be conveniences: Making the already low price lower would just encourage a constant use of them... Which I can't personally see as a good thing.

As for other potions and scrolls... Eh, they're a bit pricey, some, but merchants are thieves. :P I know the high price hasn't kept me from buying when I knew I'd absolutely need them.

But yes, just another reason to get out there and meet and RP with more PCs. Brewers and scribers aren't terribly difficult to find.

I always thought that those recall potions were for transportation. It takes 2-3 rounds in a fight to fumble a potion to your lips. If the fight is particularly hairy to the point you has to recall, you probably won't make it by potion. It's much better to utter a quick prayer and supplicate.

That's for those who can do it :D

If you think about it the cost of the components involved of a transportation spells vs a potion of recall, there is a big difference.
