Tactical Display
Tactical Display
I stumbled upon the helpfile about the Tactical Display. It looks really useful. How do I turn it on?

Re: Tactical Display
It appears that the tactical display is automatically a part of the VT100 interface on FK. It has always been automatically enabled for me using the old version of zMUD available on the website. You don't have the boxes and the VT map at the top of the screen?
If not, try VT100 on and see if that puts it there for you. Also check out Help VT, it has a lot of information on activating and disabling the interface.

Re: Tactical Display
I play on Mudlet because I have a mac. The VT100 interface looks like blue swiss cheese all over the screen. Anyone know a mac client that can run this?

Re: Tactical Display
Telnet prompt on mac or fang can/could run the mud previously.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Re: Tactical Display
You may have already done this, but before giving up on a
VT100 FULL
try, be sure to
REFRESH
and see if it cleans things up. You almost always get Swiss cheese before a refresh. That said, there are many clients that can't handle the full tactical display. Try
VT100 ON
then
REFRESH
before bailing on it entirely. Some clients can give you everything but the map, which is better than nothing (but still makes it very worth looking for an alternative client to get).
HELP VT100 gives more tips on how to get the tactical display working (and I've added a link between the VT100 and TACTICAL DISPLAY helpfiles, as this query led me to realize that one was missing).
Try the links under Connect on the home page, if you have not done so previously. Some might launch with a native app that isn't a MUD client proper, but does a better job than some custom MUD applications do. The JAVA client will give you the tactical display if you are willing to give it permission to run (but with modern JAVA that is often difficult to do unless you are savvy).
TinTin++ (see the helpfile of the same name) is the one documented client that supports VT100, but I am not a Mac user so can't testify to it personally. PM me if you need more help!

Re: Tactical Display
The HTML client works!
I guess I'll play HTML from now on. Is there a way to change the font on the client?

Re: Tactical Display
Unfortunately, a monospace font is required for ANSI graphics to work, and choices are therefore limited. The HTML code specifiesTerageld wrote:The HTML client works!

Code: Select all
.terminal {
font-family: "DejaVu Sans Mono","Liberation Mono",monospace;
font-size: 11px;
Re: Tactical Display
Is there anyway to get it to work on MUSHClient?

Re: Tactical Display
Last time I checked the Mushclient forums for it, Gammon had no intentions of adding support for VT100 to Mushclient. Its been awhile since I checked though so you might double check it at their forums:
