Real world mechanics?
Real world mechanics?
I was thinking, how sometimes you get coins from goblins and bandits automatically without Autoloot on, it doesn't really make sense to me. What would is say.... Goblins in Howling Peaks, you slay them and they drop the spear, club, or shield, basically what ever is in their hands, while coins would have to be looted by "digging through possesions". It was just a thought to make the game SLIGHTLY realistic.

Re: Real world mechanics?
You can use config -AUTOGOLD to disable the automatic looting of coins from your enemies, particularly I find very tiring having to manually loot corpses.
By the way, AUTOLOOT doesn't seem to work and I fear one day I'm going to miss a quest item because it was in the corpse of the third goblin of five you killed in a room.

Oh! You can search through a pile of corpses by typing 'look in 2.corpse', 3.corpse, ect. Or by crematingHorkul wrote:By the way, AUTOLOOT doesn't seem to work and I fear one day I'm going to miss a quest item because it was in the corpse of the third goblin of five you killed in a room.
The numbering also works well when there more than one container of the same kind in a room.
Obstacles are those dreadful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.
Re: Real world mechanics?
This is a great idea and I support the idea that we could use something like this to make the game more 'realistic'. I will say that during DMing, I typically make the party tell me that they're going to search the corpse(s) and then make up some loot for them to find.
My alteration to the suggestion would be to make autoloot/autogold work more like certain crafting skills do. When combat ends (meaning no threats are in the room) the auto system kicks on and echoes that you're pilfering through the belongings of the corpse. It could use the search/spot skill to enhance finds on certain creatures. Spot check to notice if something is of value, search skill to find everything on a corpse. This leaves it possible that some corpses aren't fully looted by some PCs, so cremating isn't just an automated response to corpses in the room like it often is for people. (It is for me when I'm leveling, most of the time.)
It wouldn't be a huge reward, but for goblins you might find an extra coin or two. Giants might have more exotic possessions like masterwork weapons or armor bits hidden in a pouch of theirs, and bandits might have bits of jewelry or an item bought at a merchant's guild.

I'm a raptor, doin' what I can, gonna eat everything till he appearance of man. Yo yo see me, I'm living below the soil. I'll be back, but I'm comin' as oil.
Re: Real world mechanics?
I like that Besk. It would finally give me a reason for my fighter to know spot and search. Truth be told ive never learned spot or search hahahah

Re: Real world mechanics?
You know, you can enable the autoloot config parameters so it's on when doing your boring training, and disable it, RPing your looting of the corpses when fellow players. It's fun!
