There are IC boards in game. :) Most major cities will have them.

I've seen the message board with notes within the Elf encampment. Though maybe I should look for the within Waterdeep, maybe it's around Market Square, or check Help Note I believe

OK, then I think I am as well set up as a new player can be. I know how to look for something in game, and I can start kicking a dummy for a while to get started. A few things IC'ly to give him his official Beginning. Thank you folks, for everything. Looking forward to our IC interactions!

I was always scared to bug for help but lo and behold!! They are nice people willing to help! I have learnt lots and died as many also. And I'm starting to understand the golden rule, ask IC before OOC, except with technical problems.

Yeah, Thaelyn... I think if I ask any more OOC, it will break my character.

I am glad to get the OOC part of my beginning out of the way, because I now feel I know enough to start playing with a concerted effort. I want to play this character for my full time in this game, so I wanted to make sure I had him set straight before I go off wandering around getting myself killed. :)

It took a few weeks to dig into my back story, a couple more days after that before I chose his class, and now the fine print is complete. I am looking forward to when my computer comes back from repair and I can get in game with assertion.

See you all out there, expect more IC questions. I don't have any more OOC ones at all, now.

One last rebuild as I choose a staff in the starter area as my first walking stick... That should solve the problem! NOW I am all set!

I am really excited right now. Everything is set up, and the only thing left to do is immerse myself in the world. I start up on Thursday, and will hope to see you folks IC'ly soon!

I am really glad you get 10 levels to decide your final class... I am beginning to appreciate the differences between a Ranger and a Fighter, and I am seriously taking my time to consider the options, now.

I will ask a few questions about some things IC'ly when I get the time. :)

Have a read of:

And if you have anything to add via your experience. It'd be cool to read it.

Nothing to add to that, yet, anyway.

I have been working on a decision between a Fighter and a Ranger. Both offer great Roleplaying opportunities, and both have some great bonuses and weaknesses to develop a solid character with. For my personal choice, I am using a Ranger for what I am going to do.

Over all, I found that I wanted to RP a Ranger, didn't really Have To use the feats of a Fighter unless I focused on what a Fighter DOES, fight. A Ranger does a bit more than Just fight, so I decided to go that route based on that work.

It took me a while to study the classes, and get a feel for my character in game. This has been a long journey, and I am glad I am decided and know what my character seeks to do with his life. For a first character, it might sound easy - you just roll and work it out - but since I am planning on playing this character for a Very Long Time, I wanted to be sure I built him the right way.

I am all set, now, my Fate is decided!

Thanks for your continued patience as I explore my character creation and figure things out! I think I have rolled for the last time, now. :) There's a lot to take in at first, and I have been looking at all my possibilities and seeing where I should go.

Its been a good start. I like Mattrik a LOT, and wanted to make sure I got him right.

Thanks again!

There were times I wanted to quit trying, and build a Fighter - it would be a lot easier than finding a way for Mattrik to become a Ranger, no doubt! There was a lot of trial and error as I worked out how my forester would become a Ranger following Tempus. And now I am almost Level 9 and just about ready to begin as a true character in your world! I still have trouble with the commands... I still have absolutely no idea who in Waterdeep sells Torches or what, but by my will alone I will find my way and get this done!

I don't care how long it will take to get there, but I am set to do it. I had once thought that you could have Improved Two Weapon Fighting as a Ranger without extremely high Dex... well..because he is a Ranger. I had also thought at one point that as the MUD develops we would get Zen Archery and I could become a Spirit Archer. So that entire idea had to go through some growth, here, and I had to change my entire perspective of what I wanted Mattrik to become and how he would go about interacting with things in here.

Its been quite a journey - and I am only just beginning. I have some hopes for the future... but first things first. Mattrik is my 'main'. He is the one I want to get to 50 first. I am going to use him to explore the mechanics of the game, and the game itself. Hopefully my RP will grow along with all of that as well.

So, I am now 'Dropping In' the game. I hope you folks will find excuses to drop by and show a newbie the ropes! I am sure at one point you had someone do the same...

Excelsior!

A ranger is an extremely good first char since they have all the skills of a scout there will be few aspects of the game where you can't explore with relative ease once you hit your stride.

good luck and have fun
