I've been wanting to organize a few Cyricist gatherings in hopes of renewing interest in the really great RP that comes of Cyric's worship, and maybe even in preparation of murdering all those nasty Banites!
But I want to be sure people would like to see this and show up to these sorts of things before I go about putting much effort into them, only because I know the MUD is pretty heavily good-aligned/Cyric-is-icky right now.
The first I have in mind is just a casual (as casual as Cyricist gatherings can be) congregation of the faith to say hi, maybe meet some hopefuls, talk about faith stuff, etc. It'll be open only to worshipers and hopefuls of Cyric and would probably be held around the end of the month, on a weekend.
I'd like to be able to get more than just one or two people out there, so let me know here (or in PM if you don't want everyone knowing you're a super insane baby-killing Cyric lover ) if this sounds like something you might enjoy.
Thanks!

I would be interested in attending.

The MUD, as I write this, is all good to neutral logged in, however; there are many times during the week where the who list is mostly neutral to evil. Don't be discouraged. There are many players with PCs on both sides of the fence that will log the appropriate one to respond to activity in the game.Areia wrote:only because I know the MUD is pretty heavily good-aligned/Cyric-is-icky right now
Activity for those dirty Cyricists would probably draw many dusty PCs (and new ones) out to play. Good luck!

Cyric is like... tots uber lame dude.
I'd be interested to hear what people's favourite deities are.
Has to be a dnd setting but not specifically Forgotten realms.
Tharizdun by far is my favourite, followed by Mask and then it used to be Lolth till I read Evermeet which shoved her way down the list to be replaced by Tyr, Mierkul and Shar all holding 3rd place as all 3 give me about the same level of glee.
In line with the thread though, It would be nice to see a few more antagonists around.
Cyric isn't my flavor of villain but all the same.

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!

FR is the only D&D setting of which I have much knowledge. That in mind, my favorite deity is...
it's a tie between Kelemvor and Cyric.
Kelemvor because he's just awesome in every possible manner. I love him. I want to be him when I grow up.
And in both cases, the story from birth to godhood is one I find extremely entertaining. Kelemvor's curse, how he deals with and is eventually cured of it, and his struggles as a newly appointed god of death all really grabbed my interest. Same with Cyric's childhood and how he grew to become this megaevil maniac. That one's actually kind of a sad story which strangely enough has me feeling sympathetic toward one of the most horrible beings in existence.
These two are followed closely by Jergal. Because who can't love a purely fatalistic god who's only purpose is to quietly await and make records of the progress to the end of everything? And the whole indifferently passing on his nearly limitless power to three random humans who originally showed up to murder him just to ease the bordom thing is fantastic.

Re: Cyric Needs Love: Who's Interested?
I would have to say my favorite deity from any D&D setting pantheon is likely Heironeous.
He's the more knightly version of Tempus if he were good aligned instead of basically neutral, and he's got his own archenemy to boot.
If I could, I would totally play a crossover paladin of Heironeous (or a cleric). It would be so awesome~~~!
But, anyways.

*facepalms
Thats... greatly amusing.
After looking at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heironeous
i have to say the more I read about GreyHawk deities, the more I'm drawn to them moreso than the FR pantheon. I got introduced to Tharizdun through the novels based on the 4e setting's the Nentyr Veil or whatever and he's been top dog ever since.
Just as some Trivia, I know Tharizdun
at least has spread his cult to Feyrun in the 1340s and Bahamut is seemingly part of both Greyhawk and then FR later on after spellplague. So maybe in a few years some of these tots lame deities will get thrown out for more epic ones
After reading:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torm_%28F ... _Realms%29
I blinked in surprised that Torm was known as Foehammer but in general If I had to choose between Tempus or Heironeous I'd pick Tempus, but I couldn't choose between Torm or Heironeous. Their both way too shiny knight to decide.
I am curious why there's so much more info on Heironeous though.

I have a Cyricist that I never log anymore, but he had some standing/repute back in the Lathlain days. I would be interested in logging him more to participate in some events, and faithing roleplay.
