Traditional Tournament
Re: Traditional Tournament
I see many factors in play here. The mount skill, the horse's stats, the rider's stats, the mounted polearm skill, the normal polearm skill (maybe or maybe not), and the shield skill combined with mount skill that has to be played against the mounted polearm skill. Good luck Harroghty. This outta be a "knight"-mare to code.
(That was horrible. I'll stop now.)
Meanwhile, my new Sharq Byte lance I prepared for the tournament.

Re: Traditional Tournament
The problem is not the attack. The attack works fine. The problem in FK and D&D and Pathfinder (etc.) is that someone who isn't terrible at riding will probably never fall out of the saddle. Therefore, rather than reinvent the wheel, I have settled on some version of the following (which I am play testing and refining).
- Everything in the attack is already taken into account by the game's hard code.
- We already can infer the success of an attack by tallying damage (each of the 18 possible damage messages for a lance are assigned a point value).
- If an attacked exceeds a threshold point value then the recipient of the hit is checks against a short soft code program to determine a lance break or if unhorsed

Gotcha,
I must only now be coming down from the post op drugs since I'm only just now realizing that supplement name is a pun.
Careful Harroghty, drownader will get you.

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!
Re: Traditional Tournament
I wanted to get this a little more coded before I picked a date, but how does the weekend of September 9-11 look for folks? I would probably want to run the event later EST in order to begin post-baby bedtime (parent life is exciting) and so I would go for beginning as early as 8 PM EST (so, sorry Britains and Euros).
How does that work? If not, what would work better? Remember, we can distribute events over a few days if need be to maximize participation.

Re: Traditional Tournament
My rider probably won't be around for any weekend events since my playtime is pretty much always zero over the weekends. I haven't really had him on much recently anyways, so no big deal. I just hope to see some cool impromptu jousts in the future with these lances!
Re: Traditional Tournament
Would that time on a Friday or Monday night work? Maybe the joust is the first or last event?

As things stand now, I should be good for those dates/times.

Re: Traditional Tournament
Friday or Monday nights should be okay for me if it's after 9 PM Central Standard Time and ends around 12 AM Central Standard Time.

Sir Aramil's name can be taken off the list of participants

Re: Traditional Tournament
This will get pushed a couple of weeks to the right. Maybe 23-25 Sep? I have been shortchanged a colleague on a very demanding customer engagement and I don't now have the time to set this up by this weekend.

Re: Traditional Tournament
Looks like I'm scheduled to work during that weekend, but it seems the lower bracket hasn't filled anyway. I'll try to be present on someone if I can, but getting online at work can be a finicky thing.

Re: Traditional Tournament
September 23rd is iffy for me. I might still be on the way home from visiting family. Will definitely be home by the 24th though and the 25th should be all right for me as long as it's within my normal play times. If it's outside of my normal play times I'll try to make arrangements to be on the computer for the event.
