I'm kicking around an idea I have for an event, but I want to make sure that there would be interest in it.
One of the things that I have heard through the grapevine and such is that there really isn't much stuff for a thief / rogue to do. When y'all need combat veterans, the fighters and similar classes are the preferred folk to approach. If y'all need weapons of mass destruction, you track down the wizards. If y'all need healing or going up against undead, you track down the local holy rollers. But what draw or what need is there for thieves / rogues? Yes, yes... they could be scouts and such but the demand for such skills aren't that high.
Anyway, my idea for an event is geared towards those who specialize in being cunning. The thought would be participants in the event would have to use whatever means necessary to accumulate tokens or acquire things of interest - whether that's by charming the pants off someone (via roleplay), or having very light fingers (via steal/thievery skills), or simply using brute force.
The intent is to give thieves "something to do" where they can utilize the skills that they invest in as a class. It's the one class that FK offers that doesn't truly have opportunities to showcase their skills. Anyway, if this is something that you would consider... please let me know. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
Curiosity and Cats
Re: Curiosity and Cats
While I would love to have part in something like this, experience has shown unfortunately that the thief is just not my class, or at least it never holds my interest for very long, so I have none active to participate. I would very much enjoy to watch others putting their shadey talents to the test, though. I think it'd be good fun if you can manage to gather a few thieves together.

Way back in the day, Bhaal held an event that included planting feathers on all participating PCs for the drow. At the end of it, the PC with the highest number of feathers won.
(I don't know how to link directly to that post, seeing as it has no title, but if you ctrl+f "feather" you'll find it.)

I always wanted to see an event of this nature being done again, so perhaps it could be adapted for your purposes. Perhaps every participating PC must hold at least one feather in their inv at all times to allow it to be stolen. Perhaps it could be a planting exercise instead, for the rogues, and other PCs don't know what that feather is for until the end of the "event"?
P.S. Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back. I'd say to just go for it.

Re: Curiosity and Cats
As someone with a relatively new thief alt, I would really like to see this/help with this. While I enjoy the (self-motivated) RP aspect of being a thief (thinking of things from that perspective, playing a more "what's in it for me" character, setting myself challenges like trying to steal coins from every NPC in a given area without getting caught, or getting in an out of a quest area and solving the quest without being seen if possible, etc...) I would like to feel like there is more content or more events geared towards rogues/thieves/bards.
I will gladly take part, or discuss and help if I can.
