In Memoriam: The Tributes of the Fifth Annual Starvation Festivities

Post by Neleya » Wed Jan 09, 2019 1:38 pm

A full cycle has passed since the Fifth Annual Starvation Festivities hosted by The City of Splendours, and it is time for us to commemorate the six valiant heroes who had gone before. Over the seasons now past, legendary tales and anecdotes have been shared of them over many a tankard and campfire, and in plays and storybooks alike.
THE MEMOIR (by 31 Jan)
To give remembrance to this great Loss the realms have suffered, The Church of Shar seeks contributions from the community of tales and anecdotes, tall or otherwise, to compile a book of memoirs on our beloved heroes, Embra, Kelton, Maleveaen, Ivellios, Draglor, and Leonardo. Your stories can be submitted via the straw dolls from The Ferryman's Refuge (located in the Waterdeep and Zhentil Keep piers, more information is on the doll itself). Submissions will close when it does (end of 31 Jan).

THE MEMORIAL (~2 Feb: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ ... T00&p1=%3A)
Be you a friend or foe of the Church, put down your swords and favours and join us for a memorial at the Starvation Festivities plaque located within the City of the Dead in Waterdeep, and light a single candle for the dearly departed. Visitors may prepare a single word in offering, and if they wish, a small token to be cast into the bonfire as an offering to our fallen tributes. However, we ask that these tokens be simple, as ostentation is not our way.
May we find comfort in sharing our grief, and may their memories live on to fill the voids in our hearts.

OOC: This is not a trap. For the memoir, this is a chance for you to make up absolutely any story you want about these characters! Perhaps your character heard it in a tavern once, or read it in a storybook as a child. Change the details if you want, make up their backstories. Make it an anonymous submission, or boldly declare your name!

I would also be very grateful if the players of these heroes could post below or PM me with some pointers/the descs of your characters to help inspire the stories! I will do some investigation myself and update this thread periodically too.

Last updated 10 Jan 2019.

I will be updating and adding to this post as I get new information. Don't be afraid to bastardise any and every element! For some idea of their personalities, you can refer to the log here.

Pointers for Kelton

Code: Select all

{70}A {B0}flamboyant shock of blond hair crowns {70}the head of this wild-looking
{70}halfling. His {80}l{70}a{80}rge ey{70}e{80}s {70}flicker back and forth like a caged animal,
{70}and he has a nervous twitch that seems to never completely disappear.
{70}He is small, even for a halfling, and lightly built - possibly due to
{70}malnourishment as much as any hereditary factors.
  • Backstory: Kelton told everyone that he was a squirrel who had been turned into a halfling by a wizard, presumably an evil one (?). He had been promised that he could be turned back if he won the Festivities. He did not, sadly, so whether or not that story is true may never be known.
  • He hid for a very long time during the Prelims.
  • His entry in Maleveaen's autograph book:

{30}
{30} [chicken scratches]
{30} GooD LuCK MalXXX
{30} (the writer seems to
{30} have given up on the
{30} full name)
Pointers for Maleveaen

Code: Select all

a twiggy, candle-like female fire genasi

{80}Lanky and stick-thin, there is little way to describe this girl and
her features other than to liken her to a tree branch. Stringy charcoal
l{70}i{80}nes lightly etch long channels along and over every inch of her face
and body in generous, sweeping lengths and swirls, and bear an uncanny
resemblance to wood gra{70}i{80}n. When agitated, however, these channels begin
to widen, and a hot, fiery glow grows from the tight swirls on her
chest and flows through the courses charted for their journey through
the expanse of her skin, which is the colour of an {30}ev{B0}e{30}nly o{B0}v{30}erto{B0}a{30}sted
{F0}marshmallow{80}. Her {90}flaming, red hair {80}exists as the only disruption to the
angles abound in her form - an ultrafine mass of it swept up and back,
ending in a point just grazing the middle of her back, looking as
though it were dipped and slicked back with a hot magma. Her teeth are
round and are {10}r{90}e{10}d as {90}ga{10}rnet{80}, while her heavy-lidded gaze contains
matching pupils.

Her body radiates warmth and she smells of a raging campfire and
beeswax.
  • Blunt, always ready to roll. Enterprising, business-minded. Campaigned hard with the slogan "Maleveaen wants YOU".
  • Supposedly left her home in Skullport for SF. Left no one behind but a slaver eyeing her.
  • Remarkably vain at times. She gave out lockets with portraits of herself and larger gilt portraits too.
  • She had a stallion named Vim and had an artistic nude of her riding bareback blazing through a field with him painted.
  • She hired professional mourners for the event, and her "parents" camped by her pink lemonade stand, asserting that the pink lemonade were "Maleveaen's Tears".
  • She made people sign her autograph book and pretended they were unsolicited. This is the foreword from her compiled book:

Code: Select all

It is with great pleasure that I compile this book of unsolicited letters
that were sent to me over the course of my practice for the Fifth Annual
Starvation Festivities. Whether I survive or perish the Festivities, I
hope that the contents of the book will give an insight to the magnetic
enigma that is Maleveaen, the Tribute of the People.
Pointers for Embra
  • A lady dwarf with many sisters. They are a part of a family of shield dwarves. Sister list here:
> Embra (deceased at the Starvation Festivities, eldest)
> Deidra (current eldest, but was the second-eldest when Embra was alive)
> Avila (second youngest)
> Thoma (youngest)
  • Seemed to be closely allied with the champion of SF, Hyldest. They were best friends.
  • Joined SF to win the money for her sisters.
  • Good-natured, smiled easily.
  • Embra's entry in Maleveaen's autograph book:

Code: Select all

{60}Lass! You're a tough fighter, a worthy opponent, and, hopefully, a friend to the end.
I'll miss you, wherever we end up. Stay strong, stay fiery, fight hard.
{00}
{60}EMBRA
Pointers for Ivellios

- a silver-haired young male moon elf
- He died naked, wearing nothing but the holy symbol of Corellon. He was a wizard and decided the armor provided was too restrictive for him.
- The player has lost most of the notes about him, but Ivellios wrote a letter to Aramil, explaining why he is participating:
Lord Neidre,

I write to you with shaking hands, but two squires have advised me to
seek your help. My past has found me and I fear I might not live to
see another sunrise.
I should start from the beginning. I think I have told you that I
have spent some time sailing the seas. What I failed to tell you is
that I also sailed upon a pirate's ship for a while. To make a long
story short, I accidentally burned down this pirate ship and while no
one was harmed, the captain was not amused. I ran. To Waterdeep. And
tried to become a proper elf. A respectable one. You helped my greatly
on that path and for that I thank you.
However, this pirate captain has found me a couple of nights ago and
now seeks payment for his destroyed ship. He wants 1000 platinum. And
he wants them soon. Sooner than I can manage to earn it. Squire Galeena
and squire Elisabeth Marshall as well as Sir Andreas listened to my
story and advised against paying the captain and instead reach out to
you for dealing with him.
Last night though things got worse. The captain found me again. He had
heard of a cruel competition in the city. A fight for one's life. The
captain told me he would forget my debt if I competed in that cruel
game. If I refused, he would come back to me and end my life.

So I have no choice but to compete in the games. And maybe, if I'm
lucky and the Coronal forgives my mistakes, I may live. If I don't
survive, I would like you to know that I am very grateful for everything
you have done for me. And maybe you even have it in your heart to pray
for my soul.

Ivellios
Supplementary gossip fodder on Hyldest, best friend of the fallen Embra

Anyone who has met Hyldest is not likely to forget. He's absurdly loud, completely unaware of appropriate social behavior, and horrifically enthusiastic about -everything-

After winning the SF, He descended into a deep depression, albeit briefly, prone to fits of rage. He regularly was in the market square with his pet Llama, Boodles. He and Boodles would both drinking large quantities of wine. He would angrily curse himself for murdering his best friend, Embra, in the SF.

He attributes his victory entirely to two things: his dedication to his goddess, Tymora, and his friends through the tournament.

Code: Select all

Tall and willowy, this air genasi appears to be cut from the same cloth as
many of his kin. However, a quick examination shows this to be untrue. He has
long, almost ethereal white hair that seems to be in a constant state of
turmoil. It flows out behind him and disappears into a faint mist.

He has deep violet eyes, though they appear to be the only part of his
features that are somewhat alluring. His face simply appears to be wrong. His
mouth is too large, stretching back to reach his earlobes when he breaks into
a wide grin. His teeth are slightly pointed and are far too numerous, yet
manage to completely fill his mouth.

His long and slender fingers have an extra joint, and when he bows, his body
bends in the wrong location. The same effect can be seen of his arms and
legs, as though he was entirely without bones.

He speaks with the voice of wind roaring in your ears, and smells of old
lilac.

Pushing the timing back by a few hours again, and I've updated the original post. I'm closing submissions for the Memoir a little early so I have time to prepare, so do submit your entry via the straw dolls in the next 12 hours from this post, or PM me if you need more time!

This event is in 7 hours! I realise now that the gates to the City of the Dead close at night, so do try to get in there before if you can! Or we'll figure something out later :)

We will convene in the room with the Starvation Festivities plaque (with Sir Derkir). See you there!

Thank you to the tributes who died, and to all of you for coming and spending time at the memorial. The remaining books are in a chest in the Waterdeep Market Square, while stocks last!

And last but not least, a huge special thanks to Mahmood for hosting this event on my behalf so beautifully with your coloured smotes and all, and mixing elements of your uncoded deity (Kossuth) for a Sharran event. I'd love to see more of Kossuth in the future :)

Final plug - the candle lighting and snuffing is a homebrewed Darkcloak ritual that you can see at the Ferryman's Refuge. If you're interested in becoming a Darkcloak (essentially a public-facing compassionate Sharran), express your interest anytime.

You get a waterskin from a black suede pack.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi drops a copper bound treasure chest.
You drink water from a waterskin.
You feel bloated.
You put a waterskin in a black suede pack.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi begins to breathe in for a moment to find his inner voice and its strength.
Neleya puts away her waterskin just as the contents of the chest are offered. 'I believe that one can never really cease to exist absolutely by natural means,' she replies to the former, sauntering over to the chest, hips swaying. She inspects the contents, arranging her legs so her skirt tightens around her thighs as she lowers herself on a knee by it. 'Mmmm. The sweet scent of coffee. And, oh, a book!'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi humms to himself, saying 'Take one of these. They are the words of the past. It is all the truth, it is all a lie' he whispers to himself.

The sun rises in the east.

Neleya arches a carefully groomed brow, emerald eyes watching A pyro-manifested male fire genasi with amusement. 'All a lie, hmm?' she asks, intrigued. She picks a book up as instructed, examining its cover before looking in.

A strapping albino male human jogs in from the west.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi yells 'Thissss is the perfect call, to congregational prayer.'
A strapping albino male human slows to a walk and then a halt as he nears, muttered curses upon gate guardsman briefly audible under his breath before he looks about and casts A pyro-manifested male fire genasi and you a short salute.

An eldritch male air genasi runs in from the north.
An eldritch male air genasi waves an arm back and forth, its form weaving and undulating without bending in any one place.
A strapping albino male human salutes An eldritch male air genasi.
Neleya straightens beside the chest, closing a book and holding it against her abdomen, just beneath her ample bosom. She sinks into a deep, practised curtsey at A strapping albino male human's salute. 'Mmm, good morning, dear sir. I was just speaking with the host,' she gestures to A pyro-manifested male fire genasi.

A strapping albino male human looks at you.
An eldritch male air genasi exclaims to A strapping albino male human 'Rakelich! Glad to see you!'
An eldritch male air genasi twirls around slowly and languidly, his arms and legs swaying in a fluid constant state of movement, a look of manic excitement plastered upon his face.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi stands nearly within the fire itself, ready to reach out and hold it upright should it fall. He utters, 'Al sssssaalam aleykum, honored sstrangersss. And to you, honored Raelikh.' He pauses to look back to the fire. 'I bow to the divine within you all. I welcome you.'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks at An eldritch male air genasi.
An eldritch male air genasi points a long, disjointed finger at himself. 'Hyldest Windswept.'.
An eldritch male air genasi greets you.

Hyldest flexes dramatically, although his muscles don't appear to shift with the effort, 'Perhaps you've heard of me. Victor of the Fifth Annual Starvation Festival.'.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.

A strapping albino male human nods a couple times, 'Aye? Were no' knowin' ye were tae be hostin', lad. Well met.' he says to A pyro-manifested male fire genasi and adds a rasping 'An' tae yerself, lass.' to you before cracking a bit of a grin at Hyldest. 'Fightin' on, aye?'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi inclines his head slightly. 'Of course. Surely there is no one that knows better what was lost that day, nor regrets the machination of the gods more than yourssself.'.

Neleya drops her shoulder coyly, looking at A strapping albino male human's demeanour and garb curiously as she straightens. Inhaling deeply, she parts her lips to reveal sparkling white teeth and a smile. 'A *hero*,' she breathes to Hyldest.
A strapping albino male human greets you.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks towards the fire, saying to Raelikh 'I am glad to spread the torch of knowledge especially, yet was asked to build a fire to remember those that did not win in this game of blood and souls.'.
Hyldest opens his mouth in a toothy grin far too wide for his face.
Hyldest gently lowers his head and hisses a quiet, 'Yesssss....' through his too-wide lips.
Hyldest twirls in a circle and says, 'So many seem to have forgotten them already. As if they weren't good friends!'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi holds his hand up towards Hyldest. 'Here is your champion, the winner. I shall ask you. Will you tell us of the dead?'.
Raelikh stops using a black horned steel helm.
Neleya bats her eyelashes once, slowly, eyeing the newcomers with little subtlety despite being behind the veil. She puts the memoir away in her pack, starting to squint a bit from the breeze blowing the heat from the bonfire towards her.
Hyldest bobs his head and weaves to an unknown rhythm.
Hyldest exclaims 'Of course! I would be honored to speak of them!'
Raelikh doffs his great horned helm in a seemingly respectful gesture and ties it off to his weapons belt, answering A pyro-manifested male fire genasi, 'Good o' ye tae.' He settles his figure then into a familiar and practiced parade restto listen to Hyldest.
Neleya assumes an appropriate position as well, fingertips fluttering to land like butterflies upon her bosom. She looks suitably sad.
A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf looks at you.

Hyldest seems to exercise a great inner struggle by slowing down and standing up straight and motionless. 'I did not know them all before we met in the arena. I'd seen Ivellios once, but hadn't met Draglor or Leonardo until that day.'.

Raelikh looks at A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi reaches by hand to adjust a timber before it breaks with a creak, cinders crackling before the monument ominously. He breaks a piece of a dilapidated exhumed coffin to replace it, placing it in the stack with great care.
Neleya side-eyes A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf as she notices her there. There seems to be a tinge of what looks like displeasure dance with the shadows from the bonfire on her face, and she looks away, back to A pyro-manifested male fire genasi.

Hyldest exclaims 'Kelton I knew least of all. But we had spoken before. He was a sneaky fellow! Used his talents to the best of his ability. But you can't hide from death!'
Hyldest bobs his head and weaves to an unknown rhythm.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks at A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks to A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf through the fire with his one eye, holding both hands together as if in prayer. 'Marhabban, honored stranger' he utters, looking then again to the fire. He listens with his eyebrow shrewdly tightening.
Raelikh gives a short nod of his own head in agreement with Hyldest.
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi walks in from the north.
Neleya shakes her head in agreement, frowning. 'If I may, dear sir,' she asks Hyldest, speaking up. 'How did you do it?'.
Hyldest slowly sways back and forth, continuing his speech. 'Maleveaen was the most clever of us. We spoke often! Even flirted a little. Romance between contenders! But, as I said, she was devious! I thought she might try to kill me before the festival even began, so I didn't take her up on any offers.'.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the east.
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi vanders into the area, looking rather confused and curious.

A tall paladin takes up a position near the monuments...
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi looks at Sir Derkir.
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi looks at A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf.
A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf leans casually against a statue, her lips curved in the faintest of smiles.
Hyldest slowly stops swaying, staring into the fire and finishes in a hushed voice, 'But Embra. She was the best of us. I think she should have won. She was my best friend. The most beautiful, bravest, awesomeist dwarf to ever walk these streets...' He tugs on the straps of his pack, 'This belonged to her. No matter how dirty it gets, I'll always keep it.'.
Hyldest's mouth begins to quiver and his eyes puff. Tears begin squeezing themselves from the corners of his eyes and stream down his face, dripping off his chin to puff away into mist.
Raelikh cracks a bit of a grin to hear Hyldest's description of Maleveaen, nodding again while rasping a brief, 'Firey an' quick lass, that one. Were me own favored.' He looks over and gives A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi and Sir Derkir both a short salute by way of greeting.
You hear the sound of footsteps from the north.
Raelikh looks at A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi.
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi continues to simply linger towards the perimeter and listens to the memories being shared.
Neleya seems to lean in as Hyldest pours the last detail out, and she looks at the simple pack Hyldest bears. 'Dear me...' she says, more to herself. She shoots Sir Derkir a quick look of assessment before sending a short, coy look.

Raelikh looks at Sir Derkir.
Hyldest composes himself and puffs up with air, 'But! They're not here! And I am. I won! Killed my best friend, and I'm here to remember her, and everyone else that competed with me!'.
Neleya follows Raelikh's line of sight from Sir Derkir towards Raelikh. She sneaks the coy smile that way.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi takes out a candle that has been minutely carven by thumbnail with the names of each of the fallen. He whispers, 'What is it to exist in inexistence? The secrets you could whisper to me... I give you honor' he prays, lighting his sigil from the bonfire and holding it with both hands at his heart a moment.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Neleya dabs at her eyes with a handkerchief she produced from somewhere as Hyldest gives the conclusions, looking at Raelikh directly the whole time. She looks back at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi, adjusting her velvet garb.

Raelikh looks at you.
Raelikh nods at you.
Raelikh looks at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi.
Hyldest opens his mouth in a toothy grin far too wide for his face.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi silently prayers as his candle light flickers from bright to ghostly and uncanny, in time with his uttered mantra, no more than exhales through his daemonic teeth.
Hyldest steps back from the bonfire, 'And... that's all I have to say!'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi begins to chant.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi utters the words, 'haiojzg'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi's face brightens with understanding.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi takes a moment to look about with pause eye-to-eye with each gathered.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi implores, 'Sssssacrifice' as he tosses his candle into the fire.
The waxing moon rises.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi whispers to the bonfire as its flames leap into the sky, their heart a deep and hot color that looks as if it could even be cold.

Neleya bows her head respectfully as her gaze is met by A pyro-manifested male fire genasi. She watches the candle go, gasping softly. Her emerald eyes widen in a mixture of delight and wonderment, squinting into the heart of the fire.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi reaches into his spellbag to produce several more candles, saying "Take thissss. Write the name of one of the fallen. It may buy their souls freedom from the burning chains of the ghat. Pray, with me" he utters.
Raelikh's own mal-hued gaze lifts to follow the tall flames a moment before lowering again to their middle. He produces a candle of his own from beneath his harness and steps nearer the flames...
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi furrows her brow at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi.
Hyldest reaches for one of the candles, wide eyed and excited.
Neleya lifts her veil, summoning a glistening, moist quality to her eyes on her own command, immediately. She comes forward to receive a candle from A pyro-manifested male fire genasi.
A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi says 'Excuse, please'
Raelikh gets a devotional candle from a concealed pocket.

A pale blue fair-skinned female air genasi walks south.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks at you.
Neleya looks back at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi with bleary eyes.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi leans to whisper something to you as he chooses a gold candle to press closer.
a piece of magically contained fire glows briefly as A pyro-manifested male fire genasi activates it.
a piece of magically contained fire glows briefly as A pyro-manifested male fire genasi activates it.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi smiles as he leans back, turning to rather force candles on everyone else with urgency. He presses a white one to Hyldest.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi gives Raelikh a steely gray candle, and turns to offer A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf a midnight blue one.
Neleya wraps her fingers around the gold candle, a faint flush bleeding into her exposed neck and cheeks at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi's whispered words. She smiles, nodding in assent.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks at a dishevelled human male.
Hyldest twirls around slowly and languidly, his arms and legs swaying in a fluid constant state of movement, a look of manic excitement plastered upon his face.

A svelte, blue-eyed female halfelf accepts the candle with a lifts brow and a curious tilt of her head.
Raelikh pauses, seemingly considering before he nods and takes one from A pyro-manifested male fire genasi instead. He lights it by the bondfire's crackling flame and utters hoarsely, 'Will no' be fergettin' yer valor, ye lot.' he sets it down and produces, then, a long, slender blade from a boot and strips off his leftern gauntlet.
Raelikh gets an ornate steel dagger from a boot sheath.
Raelikh wields an ornate steel dagger in his right hand.

Hyldest holds his candle steady and slowly carves something into the wax, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as he intensly focuses on his task.

Raelikh has been rewarded by A pyro-manifested male fire genasi!
It's noon.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Raelikh lays flat his hand so that the palm faces the heavens, moving the blade to slice, without hesitence, deep into his own flesh, bright crimson almost immediately showing to contrast starkly with his too-pale skin. He lifts the bleeding hand over the fire and squeezes closed the fingers to let a healthy several drops fall into the fire with a hiss sounding audibly his sacrifice.
Raelikh stops using an ornate steel dagger.
Raelikh sheathes an ornate steel dagger in a boot sheath.

Neleya pulls the comb from her hair, finding a sharp edge to carve a single name into the candle. It begins with an M. She glances up, quite suddenly, to the proffered blood in the fire. 'Oh my,' she breathes, scratching the rest of the many letters hastily onto her candle. She nods as she is done, replacing the comb in her hair.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi utters, 'As they are we shall become, so it is known.' He begins to walk about, holding his flaming holy symbol to raise it and touch it to each candle as he passes by, walking in a slow circle from one to one. 'I will not tell you, to pray the same as I do. Pray, from what is inside and burns within you' he urges, 'this has the most spiritual currency.'.
Raelikh does not refit the gauntlet, instead leaving it tucked into his belt, and nor does he bandage the hand. It drips blood still as he steps back but once from the flames.
Hyldest bobs and sways, carefully lighting the candle and holding his face close to the tiny flame. 'Bestest dwarf to have ever lived.' He grinds a sabaton into a spot in the dirt and presses the candle into it. After a few long moments, he begins to emit a soft whine.
Neleya holds her candle out for it to be lit by A pyro-manifested male fire genasi, then brings it back, holding it a little lower to prevent the light from casting ghastly shadows on her face. 'To the gamble,' she offers simply, and extracts a small canvas bag of coins, holding it together with her golden candle in both hands.

You get 10 platinum coins from a black velvet purse.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi begins to sing in the primal tongue of fire, but in the Calimshan way of calling one to prayer. His words are stinging and longing. Such words bear no meaning other than the emotion they are, and invoke upon even the most unmagical, with an ear to hear their words of distance and ever-something-out-of-reach.
Raelikh drops a devotional candle.

Neleya looks around, blinking once. 'Where did that..' she trails off.
Raelikh glances briefly about, gaze settling a moment upon the spot where the dark-clad lass previously stood. He shakes his head and mutters something under his breath.
Raelikh nods his head in agreement with you.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi concludes his song, bowing his head. 'Give your words to the dead' he utters, 'but speak clearly. One' he insists, 'one word. Speak it to the flames' he says, 'and we will pray, your words find their ears.'.
Neleya leans over sideways and stage whispers to Raelikh. 'Sometimes people get very emotional.' It's not clear if she's joking.

Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.
Hyldest steps forward and states plainly, 'Forgive.'.
Hyldest bobs his head and weaves to an unknown rhythm.
Hyldest twirls around slowly and languidly, his arms and legs swaying in a fluid constant state of movement, a look of manic excitement plastered upon his face.
Raelikh gives a slow nod to you, then at A pyro-manifested male fire genasi's instruction he looks once more upon the flames. He considers a short time...
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Raelikh lifts his armored fist to his heart in salute toward the crackling heat and speaks, vocals torn and worn from so long shouting over the din of battle, 'Glory.'.
Neleya goes forward, prepared. She steps right up to the fire and repeats her word from earlier, resolute. 'Gambles.'.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi listens to each of the prayers, whispering them again one-by-one in repetition. He speaks them like a mantra unto the bonfire to fuel it with each word, til it begins to hiss and snap with a surge much like an lit oil-jar breaking. Within the radiance forms the features of a face, no more than a scowl.
Neleya makes another reaction sound, retreating from the surge a little.
Hyldest adopts a look of pure joy, his face splitting open as a quiet giggle escapes from his mouth.
Raelikh holds the salute for a long while as A pyro-manifested male fire genasi prays, seemingly unbothered by the roiling of the fire though his snowy scarred brow does knit a little bit and he peers closer toward the image.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi lifts both arms as he feeds his life into the pyre til it reaches dangerously hot, its heat blackening the red of his own armor as he stands up close. The fires reach high as the memorial itself as the candles erupt into a ghostly flame which ebbs, until each burns without light. In only a fleeting moment, they are gone out entirely, only the remains of the bonfire crackling in parting silence.
Hyldest gasps.
Neleya claps one semi-free hand to her mouth, the one with the money. She holds her breath for a few seconds, then releases it, stunned by the spectacle.
Hyldest blinks slowly, one film sliding over his eyes horizontally, then another vertically, like a cat.
Raelikh's sensative eyes cannot help but squint and eventually squeeze shut against the sheer brightness of the building fire, but he stands still, keeping his place and his salute through the worst of the blaze. His fist finally falls and his figure eases just a little bit when the fire dies away, and he gives an appreciative albeit silent nod.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi stands amid the remains of his sorcery without much fanfare, and instead turns his one eye onto the chest, saying 'Tfesf zoolu uere maeg gmr thgr kckmsiaj. Sajf one. Ald releobdp sgmte thau fid nor uupwgwe' he urges, 'kusr at thc ole vgo cjc, rwreny fods.' He settles his gaze with some mixture of conviction and compassion on Hyldest.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi appears to be thinking very deeply.
Neleya leans forward, like she doesn't understand. 'Yes..?' she encourages. 'Come again?'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi concludes in the common tongue, 'Take one of these books. They were made to be remembered' he gesticulates, towards the chest nearby, out of way of melting. 'And remember those that have died, as the one that lived surely does.'.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Hyldest gets a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir from a copper bound treasure chest.
Hyldest gently lowers his head and hisses a quiet, 'Yesssss....' through his too-wide lips.
Hyldest hugs the book tightly to his chest.
Hyldest opens his mouth wide, splitting his face from ear to ear, and lets out an earsplitting shriek.

Neleya produces her own copy, having taken one from before. She flips it open for what looks like the first time, quickly reading the foreword. 'That's you!'.
Raelikh follows A pyro-manifested male fire genasi's gesturing to the chest and emits a low hrm while stepping off to gather one for himself, cracking it open to skim through...
Raelikh gets a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir from a copper bound treasure chest.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi moves to take one of the books and a drink for himself, saying 'Enjoy these drinks. They were meant to be.'.
Hyldest presses his lips together and smiles, his lips extending straight up to his eyes.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi gets a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir from a copper bound treasure chest.
Hyldest exclaims 'It is!'

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi seems to be relaxed and comfortable.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi holds a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir in his left hand.
A tall paladin marches off...

Neleya continues reading the book, going deeper into the pages. She glances up and asks A pyro-manifested male fire genasi. 'What's the coffee for?'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi looks over the drink, saying 'It is more because they cannot.'.

A pyro-manifested male fire genasi gets a flask of firewine from a red suede pack.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi drinks whisky from a flask of firewine.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi puts a flask of firewine in a red suede pack.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi winks.

Raelikh gets a cup of bloody coffee from a copper bound treasure chest.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi suggests with a wave of his hand, 'You drink the coffee, you read the book, you cry, you laugh, you learn.'.
Neleya nods understandingly, a little too understandingly, which makes it look like she might not have fully understood. 'I heard a joke about serving depressos at this memorial.' She continues looking through the book.
Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.

Neleya points to a paragraph. 'A huge acorn tree?' She looks up. 'Well, now, where is anyone going to find that!?'.
Hyldest opens his mouth wide open and a rapid paced giggle erupts from within, though his body does not shake with the effort.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi burps loudly.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi drinks coffee from a cup of bloody coffee.
Hyldest gets a cup of midnight coffee from a copper bound treasure chest.
Hyldest starts to nibble on a cup of midnight coffee... (he must really be hungry)
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi begins to chuckle to himself. 'I wonder what wishes this contest can truly provide.'.
Hyldest exclaims 'Oooh, long lasting!'
Hyldest twirls around slowly and languidly, his arms and legs swaying in a fluid constant state of movement, a look of manic excitement plastered upon his face.
It starts to rain.

Neleya looks to A pyro-manifested male fire genasi curiously. 'Contest?' As the rain comes down, she pulls her veil back over her face, assuming a suitably sombre expression.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi hiccups loudly.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi turns towards the bonfire, looking at its cinders as it begins to pop and die with the rain. 'I curse you bitch Istishia' he utters under his breath. He turns back to look to you then, saying with some lulled comforting tone. 'I wonder, yes. Was it worth winning, honored Hyldest? Did you gain much? Was it worth taking the life of your closest friend?'.

Neleya nods at Hyldest, reaching down to indulge in a cup of coffee, herself. 'Will you not have one, dear sir?' she asks Raelikh, aside.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi burps loudly.
Raelikh gives a short chuckle at something in the book before looking up toward you. He lifts his cup, rasping, 'Got me one. But thankee. Cheers eh?' He takes a long swallow.
Raelikh holds a cup of bloody coffee in his right hand.
Raelikh drinks coffee from a cup of bloody coffee.
Raelikh seems to be relaxed and comfortable.
The sun slowly starts to set in the west.
Raelikh looks at Hyldest.
Neleya smiles widely, like the response was all she needed. She closes the book and listens for Hyldest's reply, holding the book against her.
Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.
Hyldest exclaims 'Very much so!'
Hyldest throws his head back as his body shudders with laughter, but no sound emits from him.
Raelikh smirks.
Hyldest says 'I miss Embra terribly, but I'm FAMOUS now. And have SO many friends.'
Raelikh drinks coffee from a cup of bloody coffee.
You ask Hyldest 'Was fame always something you wanted, dear sir?'
Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.
Hyldest exclaims 'Yes! Sort of! If people knew I was rich and famous, they'd want to spend time with me!'
Neleya doesn't seem to disagree, looking like she's one of those people. 'How rich?'.
Raelikh tosses his empty cup back into the chest while lifting his bare hand up to let the rain wash away the remnant blood from it. 'Eh, so it's friends ye were wantin'. Hrm.'.
Hyldest shrugs his shoulder eerily, his head seeming to sink deep into his chest.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Hyldest says in a nonchalant way, 'Well, the bank won't hold all of my winnings, and I've kept training on top of it.'.
Raelikh chuckles.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi pauses to consider his position. 'I am Mahmood Sha en Amu, Imam of Kossuth. I did not realize I never introduce myself. I was asked to oversee this bonfire, and I have. So it is done.'.
A pyro-manifested male fire genasi greets you.

Hyldest stretches his jaw in a wide jawn, giving him the appearance of a many-toothed snake.
Hyldest says 'I spent four hundred platinum on a whip because I've never had a whip before.'
Hyldest shrugs his shoulder eerily, his head seeming to sink deep into his chest.
The night has begun.
Mahmood says to Hyldest 'THis seems to have spited the Silkwhisper who wished for it.'
Neleya frowns a bit, incredulous and impressed and drawn to the declaration. 'How did it feel, dear sir?' She turns to Mahmood and quickly tucks a foot behind her other one, lowering herself into a graceful, practised curtsey. 'And I am Neleya Mylia, forgive my insolence.'.
You greet everybody in the room.
Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.
Hyldest exclaims to Mahmood 'Well maybe if she wants to be my friend I'll give it to her as a present!'
Hyldest shows pointed teeth and lets out a quiet, 'Hehhehhehe hhehehh hehhhhehh.'.

Raelikh chuckles low in his throat, remarking toward Mahmood, 'Little better 'an seein' a Sunite, panties all in a bunch but no' willin' tae fight fer anythin'.' He shakes his head then and adds, more genuinely, to Mahmood, 'Ye gave a good service, thankee.'.
Mahmood has been rewarded by Raelikh!
You have been rewarded by Raelikh!
You have rewarded Mahmood!
Raelikh gets a cup of bloody coffee from a copper bound treasure chest.

Dondarrion walks in from the north.
Raelikh looks at Dondarrion.
Hyldest blinks slowly, one film sliding over his eyes horizontally, then another vertically, like a cat.
Mahmood lifts his good eyebrow, telling you 'It was enlightening. I feel as if I have come somewhat closer to my god.' He nods to Hyldest whilst turning to tell you 'Bless your hand honored Neleya Mylia. There is no wrongdoing.' WIth some surprise he turns back to look at Raelikh. 'I thank you honored Raelikh. Truly.'.
Mahmood looks at Dondarrion.
Neleya looks towards Dondarrion, batting her sooty eyelashes once, slowly. 'Oh, dear sir! You made it!' She lets her smile falter, looking at the dying embers.
Dondarrion raises his hand somewhat sheepishly, 'Yeah, I'm a bit late, I think. ..Sorry.'.
Mahmood looks to Dondarrion through the fire remains, saying 'Marhabban honored stranger.'.
Hyldest asks 'Oh! Right! Thank you, Myfood, for doing this! It was... it was really good! But who asked you to hold it?'
Raelikh tugs his lone gauntlet back on once his hand is suitably not covered in blood. He takes up another cup and nods to Dondarrion, 'Evenin' lad.'.
Mahmood utters to Hyldest 'That is none of your business and if you insult me again I will turn you into ashes.'.

You say to Dondarrion 'There are coffees in the chest to partake in, at least.'
Hyldest blinks again, 'Insult?'.
Hyldest opens his mouth wide open and a rapid paced giggle erupts from within, though his body does not shake with the effort.
Hyldest twirls around slowly and languidly, his arms and legs swaying in a fluid constant state of movement, a look of manic excitement plastered upon his face.
Hyldest exclaims 'You're funny!'
Mahmood says to Hyldest 'My name is Mahmood. Not my-food.'
Hyldest blinks slowly, 'My...mood. Mahmood? OH! I'm sorry! I don't really have the best hearing.'.
Lightning flashes in the sky.
Dondarrion looks a little more nervous as the genasi speak amongst themselves, especially at the mention of turning folks to ashes. '..Coffee? Okay, sure.' He clears his throat, shifting his hammer to slip it away into his rucksack. 'Ho there, Raelikh. Good evening.'.
Dondarrion stops using a spiked warhammer.
Dondarrion puts a spiked warhammer in a hairy rucksack with many pockets.
Neleya claps her hands together, 'Now, now,' she says huskily, trying to ease the tension with nothing but herself. 'I think his hearing is damaged by all the time in the war.'.
Mahmood raises a hand. 'Then all is forgiven, honored Hyldest. I am used to having to be clear about those who try to make sport of me for my appearance.'.
Dondarrion looks at Mahmood.
Raelikh holds a cup of bloody coffee in his right hand.

Raelikh drinks coffee from a cup of bloody coffee.
Mahmood gets a cup of golden coffee from a copper bound treasure chest.
Mahmood holds a cup of golden coffee in his right hand.
Mahmood drinks coffee from a cup of golden coffee.
Mahmood seems to relax under the healing of the herb.

You say to Mahmood 'There really doesn't look like there's anything to make fun of, dear sir. You seem made of fire, strong and bold.'
Dondarrion lingers for a moment or two longer before toeing over to the chest and peering inside, '..Err, what's the difference between these?' He asks of those gathered, 'I mean, is there a certain one I should get or..'.
Raelikh grins.
Hyldest exclaims to Dondarrion 'Try the green one!'
You say to Dondarrion 'Drink and find out.'
You wink at Dondarrion.
Mahmood lifts his one eyebrow, telling you 'It is not a topic that tends to lead to any good thing.' He looks from Dondarrion with interest to the chest.
Mahmood says to Dondarrion 'I find this to be favorable.'
Hyldest exclaims to you 'You're exactly right! IF by war, you mean my Grandfather!'
Mahmood gets a cup of golden coffee from a copper bound treasure chest.
Mahmood gives a cup of golden coffee to Dondarrion.
Raelikh lifts his cup for Dondarrion, 'This'ne's the best.'.
You ask Hyldest 'Have you already had coffee?'
Dondarrion turns his attention back to the chest, 'Green one?' He asks, rooting around in it before Mahmood hands him the cup, 'Oh, thank you. Thanks. I couldn't see a green one, I've spent so much time in that mining school up north trying to convince them to teach me.'.
Dondarrion says 'I reckon there's more soot than eye in my eye sockets.'
Mahmood grins to one side at Raelikh. 'I found it to have good flavor. This one seems like it could prepare you for battle.' He ensures Dondarrion 'This is the golden roast.'.
Hyldest starts to nibble on a cup of midnight coffee... (he must really be hungry)
Raelikh puts a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir in a concealed pocket.
Hyldest exclaims to you 'It's delicious!'
Raelikh asks curiously of Mahmood, 'Ye make 'em yerself?'.
Dondarrion drinks coffee from a cup of golden coffee.
Dondarrion seems to relax under the healing of the herb.
Hyldest drinks coffee from a cup of midnight coffee.
Hyldest grows very calm.
Mahmood shakes his head, telling Raelikh 'These too were gifted, but I have some taste for this as I will not drink water alone.'.
Dondarrion raises the coffee to take a long sip, before nodding slowly, 'Yeah, it's not bad at all. I don't drink a lot of coffee but.. I could get used to this.'.
Raelikh nods his head in agreement with Mahmood.
Neleya leans nearer to the seemingly calmer Hyldest. 'How you feeling now, dear sir?'.
Mahmood says 'It must be boiled, so why not put in the beans.'
You ask Dondarrion 'Are they refusing to teach you, up there?'
Dondarrion says to you 'I'm honestly not sure. I think they want me to give a puzzle to some fellow now, but..'
Dondarrion shrugs.
Dondarrion says 'I just wanna learn to mine so I can make my own sword someday.'
Mahmood looks at Dondarrion.
You say to Dondarrion 'Oh, that fellow...'
Raelikh waves his free hand, 'Bah.' he mutters to Dondarrion. 'Got tae see the ghost.'.
Mahmood stops using a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir.
Mahmood puts a book: Unforgettable - The Tributes' Memoir in a grey duffle bag.
Mahmood nods at Raelikh.
Dondarrion raises his eyebrows up, 'The ghost?'.
Mahmood offers, 'As this fire no longer requires my attention. If the honored Raelikh wishes to undertake this task of assisting you, I will, in turn assist you both.'.

Hyldest taps his throat with long fingers, a gargling 'Hmmmm.' rumbling out.
Raelikh nods, 'The ghost o' the mines. Good lad.'.
Raelikh drinks coffee from a cup of bloody coffee.
Raelikh seems to be relaxed and comfortable.
A lone bird trills and shatters the silence of this walled garden.
Hyldest exclaims 'I should really be going. I have an appointment to keep!'
Mahmood offers Hyldest 'I would welcome you to share a few words if you wish in parting.'.
Raelikh looks at Hyldest.
You exclaim to Hyldest 'Fare thee well, my heroic one!'
Hyldest blinks slowly, one film sliding over his eyes horizontally, then another vertically, like a cat.
Dondarrion jiggles his cup toward Hyldest, 'Safe travels.'.
Hyldest says 'Oh! Okay.'
Hyldest throws his hands into the air and begins to twirl in place, creating a doppler effect as he announces, 'Remember my friends! Embra! Kelton! Ivellios! Malevaean! Draglor! Leonardo! They fought and died, but I remember them!'.
Mahmood holdes this hands together. 'Thank you, honored Hyldest. Thank you very much.'.
Raelikh lets loose a hoarse though booming 'Hey ho!' into the night sky in answer to Hyldest's words.
Raelikh dons a black horned steel helm upon his head.
Neleya kisses her hand and blows it into the air.
Hyldest throws his arms in the air and lets out a loud whoop of joy, his arms flailing and swaying in unnatural ways.
Raelikh salutes Hyldest.
Neleya holds out three fingers, held together, in salute.
Hyldest exclaims 'Farewell, my friends! I shall see you again! Soon!'
Raelikh exclaims 'Fer fightin'!'
Raelikh grins.
You say 'He has so many friends now.'
Hyldest abruptly stops twirling and lopes away with long, graceful strides.
Dondarrion just sorta awkwardly straightens his spine while trying not to spill his coffee.
Hyldest runs west.
