2018 Faith Manager Drive

Post by Mele » Sun Aug 05, 2018 8:31 pm

Beginning today and ending after August 19th will be a new Faith Manager Drive.

Unlike last time, you will need to complete something to be considered. Every faith management slot is open, including ones with faith managers in the slots. If you are a current holding faith manager who wants to keep the slot, be sure to submit an entry. If you do not want to keep the slot, submit nothing.

You may make a brand new alt, or use a long standing alt. Squires may submit events, but are not eligible for an FM slot until they become paladins. Please be sure to submit the alts name (or future name) in your entry.

Here's what to do.

Visit both of these pdf book pages to begin:

F&P

F&A

When you find your deity in the index list click the top of the page where it's got the page numbers and enter yours in for quick navigation.

What we're looking for to be submit by you:

6 faith themed preferably mud-wide events, to be held 1 per month for 6 months. Your events will be supported by immortal staff members. You are welcome to contact me personally in any means you might (PM, otell, ask channel, discord) and submit in app in general if you prefer not to work with me personally, or feel awkward contacting me directly.

When reading both of the entries in the links above about your selected deity, you will find any smaller things that a faith event can be based around. An example might be Lathander and self improvement could warrant a trip to fight drow and improve your weapon skills. Kelemvor could hold some funerals for NPCs and PCs can pretend to have known them and attend. Tyr can have trials for NPCs. There's a lot more to build upon than the basic short well known info if you just go on and read.

We understand the most difficult to this would be Shar, and Mask. Shar's faith is very much a clique who only share with each other, prefer to only associate with each other and lack in hope and trust. Mask's faith is more trust ONLY in the Shadows, spin things in your favor and all wealth is up for grabs - as in, from each other as well. So for these two faiths the events will be harder. Shar would likely be more inter-faith and Mask would need to be organized with people going in and knowing that it might not be awesome for their alts. It's still very much possible to do mud-wide with both so don't be shy to try!

What is wanted is the promise to try to get these events out every month. If you post and prepare for it and no one has come, you have put forth the effort and will remain in the slot. However, if you do not try, you will be removed from the slot.

After some time for this new drive to lift off and successfully create more faith managers and PC run events, I will reply to this post opening again for submissions for any empty slots.

If you submit the best six events for your faith, you will immediately be placed into the FM slot at the end of the submission period.

We're looking forward to submissions and new PC run events! Most importantly: HAVE FUN WITH THIS.

Re: Submitting more than one.

You may, but if someone with 0 hits the same deity as you they take priority.

Also it may only be two total and one must be good or neutral, and one neutral or evil. So G/E N/E G/N or N/N.

I've already been planning up a couple Tyrran things, but it would be nice to be able to look through the actual Faiths and Avitars and Faiths and Pantheons entries just for general knowledge, too. If anyone knows of screen-reader-accessible versions out there, I would be super grateful for a tip by PM or whatever!
...But if thou hast done evil, fear her. For she beareth not her sword in vain. For she is the Lord's instrument: a wrathful avenger unto the wicked.

If you can't find something I'll gladly get on voice and read for you in worst case.

Have some super sudden moving things going on IRL, so I'll potentially begin slipping people in early for faiths that I don't think will have multiple hits, or might slip people in a little late for ones we'll be talking over as a team. But by the end of August for sure everyone will be in a spot or know if they were not the one chosen of the few who applied.

The faith manager list has been thinned down regarding activity of our current faith management list.

If you have not been playing the alt (let alone not holding events) you have been moved to the Prelate position.

There are no hard feelings, and I welcome return to activity if the character strikes your fancy of interest again sometime.

My initial secret goal was for people to run events with little to no imm help, and inevitably be added to the Story Council to allow more tools for said monthly events. I am hesitant to use the council for this as for over a third of my faith manager list has fallen into the 'not priority alt' list. This is something I myself am also 'guilty' of. I put guilty in quotes because I don't think it's something to be guilty for, it's simply a part of FK. Many of us have alt phases and that's a-okay!

What that means is basically: I am not comfortable giving commands to people for characters they are not actually active as. Thus, we will be leaving faith manager slots to 'priority alts'. I understand how this may come off as discouraging, though I hope it will not. It's my full intention to be the opposite - encouraging people to play who they enjoy and have a faith manager list of people who genuinely love and enjoy the character and faith they're part of.

So with all of that said, I welcome people to again submit six events for six months. As characters you love to play, for faiths you love to learn of and be part of.

I very much appreciate all of you and the events we have had and that will continue to come. This policy of monthly events is something I largely consider a success and I cannot stress how much I am happy with the effort being given.

Here is your list of open faith manager slots:
Mask
Moradin
Mielikki
Corellon
Tempus
Cyric
Gond
Kelemvor
Beshaba
Helm
Umberlee
Garl
Ilmater

I will be doing a flush soon. If you are inactive, when you return to activity you are welcome to pursue the mantle again. No harm, no foul, no hard feelings. Sometimes people are discouraged to shoot their shot when the slot is full, so emptying it leaves opportunity for new active blood to fill.

Hi guys!
Just a reminder and rank can hold an event - in fact this can only help you for raising ranks! I've closed off new faith managers because what I tried here did not work to have faith managers be present and active members of the ic community.

I'm now working on deciding a balance to keep away from the type of faith manager who only holds events and does not exist otherwise IC and encourage a properly present member of the overall world rp.
