Where The Sun Don't Shine

Post by Althasizor » Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:52 pm

... the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. wrote: Attention everyone!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the First official collaboration
between the faiths of Light since either current leader(Silversleuth Celric of
Selune & Mornmistress Meira of Lathander) took up their respective mantles!

What sort of collaboration will celebrate such a momentous occasion? Only
one of our favourite pastimes - Spreading Light to places that desperately
need it, and pissing off every damned dark thing along the way. And who
needs the Light more than the denizens of the Underdark?

A foul, cavernous expanse of defilement and corruption beneath each and
every one of our feet, miles below the surface where neither Sun or Moon ever
shine and daily, the foulest of them multiply and spread their evil ideologies
not by the superiority of the dark, but by the absence of a challenge to it. Many
of the Underdark's denizens have never known the light of the Moon, or the Sun,
and never been exposed to a better way than the ones they've been taught by
servants of much Darker powers.

Many of you may scoff at that, and if I'm being honest I'm really looking forward
to watching blinded, squinting drow shake their crossbows at me in rage, it'll be
just the best but - The opportunity for Renewal should be afforded everyone, and
we have the means and responsibility to Guide them to it.

Here's the plan, then:
- IN TWO LOCATIONS within the Underdark, as far to east or west as we
were able to manage, we've constructed and transported two great glowing
monuments to the Sun and the Moon that carry the core tenets of our faiths. In
the east, a monument to the Sun because it coincides with the raising of the Sun
in our own sky, and the monument to the Moon in the west because we'd already
put one in the east, so our hands were kind of tied.

- IN WATERDEEP'S MARKET CENTER you will find trailmarkers glowing with
the glory of our patrons. Take whichever you like best to leave a trail behind you
as you go; It will make it easier for you to find your way out, but most importantly,
for others to follow you - Adventurers and Light seekers alike. Make sure you take
enough!

- BRING FRIENDS WITH YOU when you head into the Underdark. We can't
really be held responsible if people get killed down there and please, know your limit.
It's really admirable that you want to help, but the Underdark is very dangerous. Young
adventurers should only enter if they have a large and very well experienced group with
them!

- BRING LIGHT AND JOY to the pitiful dregs of the Under-society over the entire
rest of the month! This is being sponsored for that entire time to give as many people
as possible both a chance to participate, as well as to turn over a new leaf. And not at
all because it will keep those musty b̶a̶s̶t̶a̶ and dark caves lit up with the Light of Lady
and Lord to help us to adventure safely!

That's essentially it. Enjoy the blessings of our faith if you choose to help, they are
with you. And be sure when or if you find the monuments that you take something, as
well as leave something! There are special limited-time prizes left at either monument
for any who brave the journey. Leave your name on some parchment in the chests there
also, so that everyone who follows after you will know just who beat them to it!

Have fun, be safe, and do a good thing today!

[At the bottom of the Silversheaf, it has been Silverstamped with the Silversleuth's Silverseal of approval]
[Just beside that, it has also been marked official by the Mornmistress' Mornstamp of Mornproval]

Sorry news, guys. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen issues with item code, we're going to have to call this off. The items and monuments will just keep poofing away, which won't be fun to replace, won't last long, and will more than likely frustrate people looking for things that aren't there.

We were very excited about this, and it sucks to close off an event early, but we'll be back in future with much more exciting events!

Ah a shame. It was such a great idea! Thanks to all who were involved in this, even if code cut it short.

I think this was an ingenious event. I’m sorry it did not pan out the way you expected. I had an absolute blast trying to play it cool while wandering around! Thank you for all your work with this.
Between the ringing of hammers in the hallowed halls a chant rises:
"Come brother ye sing with me. Ancient enemies, go cower, hide 'n flee! For dwarves be comin' fer ye!"

I'll echo the sentiments here, please please try something similar at another time. Just having an excuse to go somewhere less travelled (for my character) was great fun in itself.
