Self improvement showdown!

Post by Mele » Sat Jun 08, 2019 6:00 pm

Have you mastered all of your weapons? I bet not! (Shush, Aoife!)

The Church of Lathander invites you to a competition to improve one uncommonly used weapon from inept ability with it to a grandly mastered knowledge of it.

Your options are:
Whips
Thrown projectiles
Rope weapons
Lines
Crossbows
Chains
Bows
Slings

Write a letter to Meira to submit your entry. Your name, and the weapon you choose. In return you will be sent back a mundane weapon in the category you have chosen. Those of you who manage to grandly master the weapon you have chose you will receive a powerfully enchanted weapon designed to your aesthetic.

(Today, 6-8 is the beginning to give your name in. I will send out weapons come 6-12. From 6-13 to 6-30 are your days to work with your weapon. I will be checking opening and closing skill levels, no funny business. ;) )

8 more days! When you are finished mail Meira a letter with:

NAME:
WEAPON CHOICE:
SKILL LEVEL YOU REACHED:
WEAPON CATEGORY PREFERENCE: (Ex for polearms I'd choose a halberd. Obvs not an option in this, but you get it.)

Tomorrow this ends!

If you didn't make it to GM, please do not be upset you're still getting a reward!

Also I had several variants of this in mind for the future (Though some have been scooped up by other faith's as tied in events with my blessing) so hopefully there will be something for everyone!

Lathander promotes bettering yourself and that is not just the body! Be ready!

If you sent your letter, you have your reward!

NOW LET'S DO IT AGAIN! I'm on vacation for half of this month so I'm going to get this out NOW, and finish it once I'm home.

Choose a language! Send Meira a letter with any language and you'll soon find yourself inept at said language. (Even if it goes over your limit!)

If you GM the language by July 31, you keep it. If you do not, it disappears!

Happy improving!

HELLO! DO YOU LIKE TRADES?

Send Meira a letter with a trade you want to work on! You have a month to get it to .. nothing, because we're not about to force you offline here! You have a month to produce an item and mail it to Meira! You may request any trade but wandmaking, staffmaking and herbalism. In their place you can request brewing and scribing.

Happy Creating, Lathander loves you!

Do you want people to send an item even if they didn't GM?

I'm considering one for Chauntea soon. I'll get with you. :D

An idea I might propose, is "exotic" weapons. Maybe. Though weapons have been done before.

Let your inner weeb shine!

You were never supposed to GM. Sorry if I wrote poorly! You were just supposed to send an item.

Homecoming Scavenger Hunt!

Post by Mele » Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:28 pm

To celebrate the homecoming of the Mornmistress the church of Lathander is holding a scavenger hunt! What better to improve your intellect than riddles?

For this event to begin I first need volunteers! What you're volunteering for and the event can be explained at the same time!

To volunteer please submit your name in a letter to Meira.

Each volunteer will receive one unique item. (Or maybe several of said item, this will be decided based on the number of volunteers.)

After a week a notice (here) will go up with riddle-hints about a person, and what they might be holding. So let's say Sarah, a follower of Tyr who wears lots of yellow, has green eyes and black hair and is tall is holding an amethyst carved into a unicorn shape. Here's our example riddle-hint-thing:

To her things are black and white, but her visage totes black and yellow. You'll need to look up, but there you'll see green. She has for you a forest person's emblem with horn, carved out of cold purple.

The goal is to guess who the person is, and what they have. When you think you know, you must find them physically and should you guess correctly the volunteer will give you their item. Should you guess wrong thrice, you may no longer win their item.

Once you have an item you mail it in a box with the name of the person you received it from to Meira. Once all of the items have been returned, rewards will be sent out.

(This event is subject to fine tuning over the week while I get volunteers in. Please ask any questions or suggest additional details during said week!)

The Scavenger Hunt will begin November First!

Quick question:
Should the volunteers stay in Waterdeep for easy access (especially for low level characters) or spread across the realms?

The next time I sit down for a bit you'll find items in your inventory if you are a holder. :)
