I've been wanting to show off in fights, by not fighting back and just dodging their blows, instead of using parry also.
I'm wondering if we could turn parry and dodge on or off. So that if we just wanted to parry, we could. Or just dodge. Or neither. I've been in a situation as a fighter where I wanted to willingly walk into blows and not fight back. But when the action starts, I dodge and parry alot of the attacks, which didn't quite fit the RP of a willing sacrafice.
Anyone think this idea is worth throwing in?

Player X who is a warrior JUST GMed dodge. Now he wants to GM parry. So he goes combatmode -dodge and now all he does is parry. Parry GMs and he turns dodge back on. Now he is happy.
In other words, RP the combat too. Smotes are awsome for this. Adding a choice to skills like that...it makes IC sense, but its a gaping hole of abuse.

How could it be abused? Sorry if this question seems dumb (It is 6:30 in the AM here and I have been up and out since 6:00 last night.... up since alot longer acutally) but bear with me for not seeing what might be obvious to everyone else. How is training a skill or deciding not to use a skill abuse?
I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

It would still help, Lea. Imagine that you're fighting someone using a weapon and they have three attacks. You are GM dodge, so you dodge all of them and very rarely parry. By turning off dodge, you would be able to try to parry every round.
The best workaround for this I can think of a is a single config setting to not use shieldwork, parry or dodge, as I can't think of any way that kind of setting could be abused. By turning off all of them, you can't use the setting to focus on one skill and it still provides the opportunity to RP not resisting attacks.

What I don't understand is why it would be bad to focus on training one of those skills, rather than the other. If a fighter decided, "Hmmm, I'm getting quite good at this whole dodge thing, perhaps I should work more on deflecting attacks rather than just jumping out of the way." And then that fighter goes off to fight without dodging, thus forcing himself to aviod the hurts by using his weapons to shield himself. The only code abuse that I can think of that may come from this is if the fighter was already a twink and fought all the time instead of RP'ing. Having the ability to turn on and off the parry and dodge skills wouln't change this much. Then again, I may be wrong.
