I agree with Andreas, real life is frustrating enough, we play FK to escape RL and have fun and meet new friends. To much "reality" is killing the fun.

Request has been put on the coding slate to make items fumbled and disarmed drop into your inventory, rather than the ground.

This would also help avoid problems like crashing right after a disarm and forgetting your weapon after fumbling it or getting dragged away by your party leader before you can recover it, and other ways that these cause you to lose your weapon forever.

EDIT: However, how the coding will finally remedy this situation, whether this way or another way, know that we are discussing a solution, and I'm sure that Mask and Co, will come up with the most efficient, and practical solution asap.

I would have to agree with Andreas as well. I think the primary objective of the game should be to have fun. I know a lot of people want this to be as real as possible, but think about it. Magic is not reality, but it is very fun. I'm not saying don't try to make the game as real as possible, because I think keeping it close to reality makes it easier to immerse oneself into it and that feeling of immersion, in my opinion, is what is so fun. Having said that, if you make things TOO real, then players end up facing the frustrations that come along with reality, in this case loosing something important.

Anyway, that was a rather long winded "I agree with you Andreas", but I figured I'd make a few points while I was at it.

Warning for non-combat situations

Post by Raona » Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:58 am

Just a warning to all until things change: this can surprise you in non-combat situations. ANY weapon placed on the ground will be picked up by a NPC who happens upon it. Don't drop any weapon you care about if an NPC is anywhere about, especially in the cities where you can't get it back!

In the meantime, if you have a problem with a weapon being caught by a mob, you can try to question and see if there's an imm around. If one is around and has the time, there's a good chance (s)he will come there and make the mob give you the weapon back.

If no imms around, could it be considered ooc to request a thief to disarm - steal the weapon back, even though it may be against someone who rply the thief wouldnt have any quarrel with?

I'm also a little worried about the program for the mobs to rearm themselves. I think it's great that they're acting more realistically now by wielding a weapon after they're disarmed, but it seems that they only will wield a weapon that's on the ground, not one in their inventory. Since their weapons go to inventory when disarmed, they never actually rewield their own weapon, only the ones that are on the ground around them.

This is getting under my skin. It makes it not fun to play when you are paranoid of dropping your weapon.

At least make it drop into your inv... the chance to drop was increased...

I have to agree with Zach here.. I recently started playing a character that I hadn't touched in probably a year or two, because at the time there was no one to RP with and it just wasn't fun. Now i've come back, engaged in quite a few great RPs and am on my way to making this probably one of the most fun characters i've ever played.. But this system of constantly losing my weapon and being soundly beaten to a pulp is quite infuriating.. I've already bothered the Imms once to retrieve a weapon, and since then I've had to replace it twice because no one was around.. I don't like to complain, but placing this in the name of "realism" or whatever it was for is definitely doing more harm than good..
