FK Guide, PDF Group
FK Guide, PDF Group
The following people will be on the FK Guide/PDF Group project:
Japcil
Mariela
Takket
Lathander
Other imms who have expressed an interest.
I would like to try to do the first part "in person" with an in-game meeting. Imms don't need to attend, I can just post the results here for you to follow and chime in on. Of course, you are welcome to attend, but you needn't go out of your way to be there. If we can't meet, I'll start using this thread to throw out ideas.
I'd like to try for....

I am generally at work at that time.
My day off this week can get me online between:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... ec=0&p1=76
to
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... ec=0&p1=76
I can potentially TRY very hard to get the original time availible but unfortunate work comes before play.

Confusion heard his voice, and wild uproar Stood ruled, stood vast infinitude confined;
Till at his second bidding darkness fled, Light shone, and order from disorder sprung.

It seems like the second time works best for everyone except Tavik, so we will meet then and vote on who gets the worst part of the job. All in favor of Tavik getting that part? Without objection? The motion to give Tavik the worst part passes.
Tavik, we'll post the results and criteria. I can't start 30 minutes earlier because I won't be home from a night out with the family until then.

We can look at web pages as well later I suppose. The advantage of using a PDF is that they can be read offline as well as online. Not everyone is connected all the time. Some may also want to print and make a binder of them to read the old fashioned way.
We can make that a topic of discussion at the first meeting. Does moving the time one half hour later work for everyone then?

It doesn't affect me one way or another but I'm just wondering, having read the purpose behind it, if there is indeed a point behind making this a PDF rather than say, a webpage or a wiki project? It seems like an FK wiki would actually be a pretty interesting idea and easily link between different subjects, and could include a lot of other information as well, information on the history of FK as it differs from the realms, some of the more interesting events that have taken place, to perhaps give the game more of a sense of history than it currently has, where things which occur tend to be sort of lost to time when the players who took part in them depart.
I mean I like PDFs and all, but they're not the most easily updated format, nor any more navigable than a book, whereas say, a wiki or even a webpage with a good search function would be a lot more easily referenced. I'm not trying to crap on your project or anything, I think it's a good idea to make things more newbie friendly Maybe I will try to attend the meeting too.
