This has been happening more than enough to make me feel the need to bring it up.
Please can we try to be more careful with our alt hops? Sometimes people don't want to know your alts. Walking west, and your alt walking in from the north is a tad too revealing.
A baddie walking in, you walking north and your alt walking in from the west, kind of blatent.
Millions of ways it's done, can we please just try not to walk into the same exact room immediately while alt hopping for your own privacy, and the ignorant bliss of your fellow players.
Alt hopping and you

Not that I have had alts in the same cities enough to worry about this, but I would like to play Devil's Adovcate.
Sometimes, we alt hop when someone comes in that we have a desire (or need) to RP with, or someone with whom we know we can get a group and RP with.
That being said, some subtlety might be a wise idea.

Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

I'd like to first agree in saying I've seen this all too much recently, and it's becoming exceeding and blatantly obvious who such and such's alt is.
My problem isn't so much with alt hopping to RP with people who you've seen log on as it is with it taking away from the mysticism that surrounds players.
I personally prefer there being some mystery behind which characters are shared by the same player, as it goes along the lines of not abusing OOC knowledge because you know which characters belong to which player.
I'm all for alt-hopping, just don't make it obvious

"He served, but found no pride in service. He fought, but took no joy in victory. He drank, to drown his pain in a sea of wine... ...It was hate that drove him. Though he committed many sins, he never sought forgiveness."
I personally have the wait rule.
You log one character off. You give it a few minutes. Go to the bathroom, go get a drink, go do something real quick. Put a book away, get your laundry folded, read a chapter in a book.
And then relog on. Even if it's only a full minute, a lot of times it's enough of a break that it's not as obvious that you are playing Bob the Priest, and Fred the Thief.
The more you wait, the better it is.

Hmm, as a person who keeps his alts known in case one of them is needed for something while I am on another alt (bugs, extensive RP, faith related, ect) I don't mind alts being known. But I do agree that the old 'exit right', 2 secs, 'other alt enters left' is a bit unsettling. In some places, maybe...maybe it can be pulled off, like the large populated areas such as Waterdeep market square. But I have seen in some odd places, like Ardeep or Settlestone, and I cannot help but do a facepalm looking at the screen...
