Bug with Menzo lizard speed
Bug with Menzo lizard speed
Greetings:
I have a riding lizard purchased in Menzoberranzan, and recently I noticed that whenever I change my speed, it defaults back to gallop within a few minutes. This occurs whether I type 'speed trot' or 'order lizard speed trot'. I asked on question yesterday, and Mazikeen attempted to help but could not. She suggested I try the boards.
Please advise.

Able to duplicate this. Seems to only happen when you are speed walk and mounted prior to combat. Once combat is engaged, it tends to default back to speed gallop.
IF the battle is short, it may not do it, however it always does with lengthy battles, 2-3 rounds or more.

I don't believe it is a bug because it is just not that mount that does it. Other mounts, that are not designed for combat but rather fleeing, do gallop off when they're not mounted. Your mount is still going to want to flee (gallop off) but if you make your ride check, it'll remain controlled by you, still wanting to flee.
Maybe not the best explaination, but it works for me. If it is a bug, it's just a little pain to keep typing mount walk/trot after every other battle, but not anything detrimental to gameplay.
Edited due to cruddy typing skills

Confused on the difference between riding and war lizards here. In menzoberranzan FR at least, drow make patrols on these lizards. Wouldn't make sense for them to take the lizards out and have them flee when they got into battle.

Confused, or just want your riding lizard to not flee...
If you want to patrol then you need to buy a combat mount. Riding lizards are not combat mounts. FK is not FR.
This is no different than a surface player having to find a stable selling a warhorse rather than a pony.

Would it be possible to open 'war lizards' to those not of the Fighters guilds in Skullport or Ched Nasad then?

No, but it's very easy to type 'order lizard attack "mob"'.Kelemvor wrote:Confused, or just want your riding lizard to not flee...

I know I do it with my horses...

I'm not in favour of that. But if the drow roleplays continue on Friday, having a special sale of war lizard could be an interesting event (or having some sort of contest where a war wizard would be the prize).Orplar wrote:Would it be possible to open 'war lizards' to those not of the Fighters guilds in Skullport or Ched Nasad then?
Riding lizards aren't designed for combat, I mean yes they CAN fight, but doesn't mean they do. A great example of riding lizard in action is the beginning of Homeland by R.A. Salvatore (which by the way got me into liking FR ). They are used for their speed and ability to maneuver about. They are used for patrolling, scouting missions (which is why Dinin Do'Urden was riding his riding lizard), and other stealth oriented missions. If you want to fight on a lizard, I say stick with the war lizard.
War Lizards are used for warriors who fight while mounted ( or in other words those who favor the Z'har Thalack style of combat ). In summary, I like the way we have it now, though the idea Dalvyn presented is a great one.
