I was wondering if the spell levitate could be added to the basic wizards spell list, Im merely saying this because most young wizards have horrible constitutions and it is a pain for them to go anywhere without magical help. I just wished to ask because I beleive this would help many a young wizard and it becomes pretty much obsolete when they join a guild and learn fly, if thats in the guild they join, if its not, then they will still have a basic transportation spell to help them get around.
Just tryin to help the the lil wizards out of breath walking around Waterdeep out there.
Thanks,
Glim
Levitate - Basic wizard spell?
Levitate - Basic wizard spell?
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

Hmm... I have mixed feelings about this one. It would be convenient, but I think it would also destroy a lot of the experience of being a young wizard.
In many ways, young wizards are forced to find other people to help them. The School of Wonder classes, especially, make students seek out other characters for all sorts of help. Personally I thought that was one of the best parts of attending the School. I made many of my friends and had some of my best RP moments because I had to ask for help.
Having levitate would make young wizards significantly more independent, which would be good for certain things (e.g. traveling long distances to find components or quest items). On the other hand, being more independent might not necessarily be a good thing in this case. It would make it easier to travel alone, which makes student wizards much more vulnerable to bandits and such things.
So yes, having levitate would be nice, but I think you would lose more than you would gain.

And orc wizards are disadvantaged basically because they're stupid - hence simple cantrips only, not powerful spells, and levitate is a powerful spell.
Levitate should not be added to the basic spell list, as essentially all who do not join a school are just..dabblers..a few simple cantrips, no real training or access to spells. Leviate, again, is not a simple spell.

Levitate-basic spell
WHile I agree that it would be nice to be able to travel more than five or six screens without having to rest, I too feel that the hardship of the travel is a major part of the RP experience. Also, those that truly desire to obtain such a spell as flight or levitate, can do so by joining certain guilds or schools, so , in other words, "it ain't broke, and don't need fixing".
That is my take on the matter, anyways
