Interactive Poses

Post by Sairaven » Fri Feb 01, 2008 5:26 am

Given the inter-personal interactions, is it possible to have poses altered to include use of the $ tokens, similar to how smotes work?

For instance:

If I (as Quey) type: pose sitting in a private booth with $jak

I get:

Quey is sitting in a private booth with Jakoora.

A blue-eyed female moon elf is sitting in a private booth with a squat female half-orc.

And a combination thereof, for those who only know one of us.
Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

*is showing his support to the idea*

I like it Sairaven, I can see many many situations (And have been in situations) in which I'd use this idea.

I'll second that - though this would be an enhancement, not a fix, it's certainly something I'd use (and have tried to use, before figuring out it didn't work). :)

Perhaps a potential concern is the desire to keep poses short enough that each PC in a look only returns one line of echo, however?

What should happen if the PC or mob posed with leaves the room?

On a similar note, I think it would be nice to have a command that resets a pose to the default. When you have a character meditate and pose, the only way I know to reset it is by sitting or standing.

"pose reset" will do that, though it doesn't seem to be in the help file.

I agree. Sounds like a good Idea, that I have at many times wished I could do.

Thanks Sindri! It's been added to the helpfile...I didn't know about that either!

dot dot dot
You don't know how long I've wondered why there wasn't a command to make me go right back to standing in the middle of the room when I'm tired of sitting in the shadows.

For the longest of time, Saiden would just sit down and stand for no appearant reason.
I don't want to steal it...no that would be too easy...
I want them to give it to me willingly

This was recently fixed thanks to the kind observations and comments of those above! Helpfile suggestions are always appreciated, and we try our best to keep up with them!

Now then...we were discussing interactive poses? Seems there is support, but some concern about how to handle it when those in the pose leave the room. Perhaps it is enough to have the pose automatically removed if they do?

I think thats about appropriate
Far away and across the field, the tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spell.

I love the idea of interactive poses, and there are many, many times when I have wanted to include information about my character's position in relation to another character... descriptions like "PC1 is sitting with their arm around PC2" or "PC1 is standing in the corner with PC2" would be useful when entering rooms with strangers, and being able to gauge more about their relationship... just as you would in real life :D

Plus sometimes you can wander into a crowded place, like the Market Square, and have missed all the smotes where people are placing themselves, walking around, etc, and the interactive poses would be a good way of quickly working out where people are... Of course, that depends on whether people actually make use of the pose command :)

Bump? I liked this one a lot, but I didn't hear anything about the difficulty of coding. Any info on this idea?
