Hello,
Id like to suggest that the permenancy spell be added to the game. With this spell, certain (very limited) spell effects can be made permanent. The list of spells along the with D20 xp cost are below.
The way it would work is that one of the spells below would be cast upon the target (it doesn't have to be cast by the same person who is casting permanency), and then permanency would be cast upon the target while the spell was still in effect.
Spells that can be made permanent on just yourself:
Spell Minimum Caster Level XP Cost
Arcane sight 11th 1,500 XP
Comprehend languages 9th 500 XP
Darkvision 10th 1,000 XP
Detect magic 9th 500 XP
Read magic 9th 500 XP
See invisibility 10th 1,000 XP
Tongues 11th 1,500 XP
Spells that can be made permanent on yourself, someone else, or an object:
Spell Minimum Caster Level XP Cost
Enlarge person 9th 500 XP
Magic fang 9th 500 XP
Magic fang, greater 11th 1,500 XP
Reduce person 9th 500 XP
Resistance 9th 500 XP
Telepathic bond1 13th 2,500 XP
There is also a list of spells that can be made permanent on an area, which I can supply if requested, but I don't think really would apply.
As for the cost, I think that there would also need to be a glory cost. Something like 5 glory per spell made permanent is my suggestion, but this is up for debate. The glory cost would be incurred by the person it was made permanent upon, not necessarily the caster of permanency (because I don't think it would be used on others if just the caster of permanency had to dish out the glory). The reason I think this spell would be nice in game is because none of these spells are overpowering. And they are all fairly low level.
Feedback is always welcome,
Thanks,

Re: [Spell] Permenancy
I think a fair addition would be if the permanency status could be dispelled. Specifically because of the enlarge/reduce person. I could see a mage casting reduce person on someone, then permanency even though the person didn't want it cast on them. If it is not dispellable then they are plum out of luck and stuck at a size they never wanted.
Re: [Spell] Permenancy
Hmm, that is very true... but then, I think that if it can be dispelled, then it should not cost glory, just experience.

Re: [Spell] Permenancy
I agree, that is reasonable.
Re: [Spell] Permenancy
Wouldn't enchant weapon fall under the spells being able to be made permanent? It would be able to make some of those unique mundane weapons magical even if it wasn't a powerful magical weapon.

So yes, even a permanent spell can be dispelled unless it's a personal effect.D20 SRD wrote: Spells cast on other creatures, objects, or locations (not on you) are vulnerable to dispel magic as normal.

How would death initiate into this? As it is, death dispels everything down to the soul, no pun intended.
Re: [Spell] Permenancy
I think if it was dispellable, then death would remove the permanent spells.
