Torches
It has always been unclear to me how to deal with torches. Some might say you can't put them in packs because it is on fire. Others will say codewise the torch won't burn your pack so just think of it as you put it out then put it in the pack.
Well, we have the ignite skill so why don't we make it a little more useful. I think it would be cool if when you were done using a torch you can extinguish it. Then later on you can re-light it.

I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.
Re: Torches
Could that extinguish command be made to douse a fire in the wilderness as well? I have at times had to leave a nice campfire without putting it out, which no ranger would ever do. I have seen some chars RP covering it with dirt, but it is still there in the inanimate box on the screen.

This is a bit to the side, but you can put campfires out by emptying water containers out on top of them

Or if the ground is soft enough, a shovel can bury it.Enig wrote:This is a bit to the side, but you can put campfires out by emptying water containers out on top of them

Extinguishing
I've had the worst luck with this lately. Even if I have a water source from which to fill a waterskin and douse the fire over and over again, it doesn't seem to go out.Enig wrote:This is a bit to the side, but you can put campfires out by emptying water containers out on top of them
Until a bard tries. Then it works.

After all, only the charismatic are able to convince fires to cease their destructive nature.

Re: Torches
I dont see why we couldnt add a program to items of type fire. I have put small fire out with my shoe irl. It could even be set up that if the room type is not outdoors that when you type extinguish you roll to take damage from the fire, albeit a small amount, wearing boots reduces the risk of injury.

We have gotten a wee bit off topic I think.
It would be nice to do this, but then people would have to learn "ignite" in order to do so, I believe there is a way with some oil that you can reignite torches and lamps that were snuffed do to time

Cheap low level skill gets a new ability that improves the lifespan of several light sources.... sounds good to me. Would be nice to use ignite for more than making cooking fires.Maybel wrote: but then people would have to learn "ignite" in order to do so,
