I think the award to the most amazing name is Isaldur's Sade. I would NEVER have guessed it was pronounced that way. I always pronounced it: Slayd. (but without the l) You know, the band with the Xmas No. 1?

Mine are so easy:

Lerytha = LEH-ritha
Miriel = MIH-ree-el.

I always pronounced it like the singer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sade_Adu). (#Smooooooth operator....#) Just as Faria I've always read as the same pronunciation of Faria Alam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faria_Alam) which is Fah-Ria. And I once knew a girl called Suné, so that influenced my reading of the goddess Sune's name.

It seems to be the people who say "None of my names are difficult to pronounce" who are then shattering my illusions :wink: For example... Ynaura I've always read as "Inora," for Aveline and Gesine I've been reading "ine" to rhyme with "spine" not "spleen." Opposite for Nedylene, which I always read with an "een" on the end.

But hey, multinational playerbase. It's all part of the fun :wink: Like when Tyson posted the thread on how to pronounce the gods names... Mystra as "Miss-Truh" and Cyric as "Sirrick" were how I was saying them all along.

Lar-eeth-iel seems to be the american/english way to pronounce it. Sounds different when pronounced in german :)

Ah-rah-mil, I do like the german pronounciation of it, too, would be Ah-rra-mihl.

I've just realised I forgot to mention my most contested name of all!

HOMFG, Ynaura, just read your pronunciation!

I think there's gonna be a faith ruling that you're called INORA instead of that funky pronunciation you had above! :O Dear GODS! ;)

heh, I've heard many different pronunciations of Ynaura, but you two are the only ones that have told me about that one. When I created her I was really having a hard time coming up with a name. I think like six or so names I tried got rejected, so I finally decided that the next name I came up with they wouldn't be able to reject. I sat down and decided I wanted a six letter name, and I put letters in a hat. And drew out six letters. Ynaura is what came out of the hat.

I thought it was Yuh Nar Uh

I love these threads... I always wonder sometimes.

Vantessa- Van-tess-uh
Gabrien- Gab-rhee-en (Gab, not gabe) :)
Thiereth- Thie-er-reth
Blissany- Bliss-ann-nee
Arariss- Air-uh-riss

That's some of mine anyway... Only one that I thought was a bit harder to tell, but who knows? :)

Sorry, Ynaura. I've been saying it as Ya-naura( as in laura) all along :shock: my bad :)

Most of mine are fairly easy, though some seem to invite free interpretation :D
Brodnur = Brode ner
Jelari = Gel are ee
Yboesh = Ee bwesh
Barlo = Bear lowe
Those are some of the mains I run, anyways :twisted:

And some others I play, as well are here :)
Ithrael= Ith rye ell
Yylerian= Yuh leer ee an
Xtaipahiel= Z tie pah ee el

So if Braeck has been pronouncing it Broad-nur, does that mean the honeymoon's over? :shock: :oops:

Nah, she understands that as Braeck gets older, certain things start to slip, mind, memory, etc, etc. :lol:
