Behring's call for assistance

I, Behring, mage and loremaster in Daggerford, call upon all scholarly types to contribute to a premium magical research conducted under the patronage of the Duke of Daggerford.

Old diagrams recently uncovered in an abandonned and ancient underground complex led to the construction (with the precious and expert help of Azargatha Nimune of Highmoon) of eldritch boards that we came to name alchemy boards. These strange boards are triangular in shape and contain four slots in which elemental crystals can be placed to power up various transformations.

One of those transformation processes - one that we came to call Agglutination - has already been discovered. It allows to merge, or agglutinate, smaller crystals into larger ones. Yet, this is no mere physical merging or agglutination: the process is more complex than that (since it can also combine crystals of one type into a larger crystal of another type).

We are convinced that there are other processes to be dicovered, but the only way to study them is through experimentation, and experimentation requires not only time but also raw materials. This is where we call upon you.

The experimentations are planned to start in a few months but, before they start, we need to gather enough components. The number of required components is so high that no single person can expect to do it by themselves, but, together, we can manage.

We shall require:
- 40 small elemental fire crystals
- 40 small elemental earth crystals
- 40 small elemental water crystals
- 40 small elemental air crystals
- 40 small crystals of positive energy
- 40 small crystals of negative energy
- 10 medium elemental fire crystals
- 10 medium elemental earth crystals
- 10 medium elemental water crystals
- 10 medium elemental air crystals
- 10 medium crystals of positive energy
- 10 medium crystals of negative energy
- 3 large elemental fire crystals
- 3 large elemental earth crystals
- 3 large elemental water crystals
- 3 large elemental air crystals
- 3 large crystals of positive energy
- 3 large crystals of negative energy

The experimentations will not start before the end of November 2008, so we can take our time to gather the crystals. I will let you gather amongst yourself, perhaps designate a leader for this effort, collaborate and share the work.

The results of the experimentations, and the newly discovered processes will be shared with all those who have made of a worthwhile contribution to this effort (or at least with some representatives who can then spread the knowledge).

An OOC note ... I'm not going to intervene in this roleplay and tell you how to do it, but I have heard a few people complain that they have tried to get involved and that they clearly felt desired. Seeing how those reactions are dealt with is actually part of the this roleplay/experiment. If it is IC for you to react so (because you just want to anger people, or because you want to keep the "secret" to yourself, or because you want to be one of the few who will be able to teach [and get paid for it] later), that's fine. If the goal is to spur some antogonism between characters to make the relations between "goodies" more interesting, that's fine. Just expect that your actions will have consequences though ... and next time, you might be on the other side.

Adventurers of the realms, scholars and students of the arcane, pray lend me
thine ears.

I am Zelar of Tymora and while some people may think that I am in charge or
coordinating the efforts in order to answer Behring's call for assistance I
shall not deny or confirm such rumor, rather than that I single-handy
announce that all those who would like to offer his aid providing are not
enemies of the faith or those who threaten stability of Faerun shall be
welcome to assist in the collecting of all these shards.

While there might be more than a single group attempting such task, I am
aware of just a single one which has as members devotes of the churches of
Mystra, Shandaukul and Tymora, be the wish of my lady and mine as well that
those who would like to try their luck would not be turned back.

The shards which are needed in more dire need are those of positive, negative
and earth types, thus inventing all those mentioned above to aid in their
collecting.

Those shards are recollected with a pick and the aid of nimble fingers from
crystal formations aligned to thine energy type which most of the time being
are hidden from sight, being needed sharp eyes or aid of the arcane to detect
them.

The location of those crystal formations can be a tricky subject yet the
alignment of those crystal formations can indicate where would be more likely
finding them, whereas fire crystal formations would be close to places
associated to fire and intense heat such as volcanos or deserts, earth shards
are to be found in places associated to earth and stone like mountains and
caves, positive shards to places where life or light at are their fullest and
negative shards to the dark and places associated often to entropy, death and
decay.

I will make myself accessible to answer any questions and take shards at the
date below this parchement at Behring's, in Daggerford, knowledge will be
shared to those who make a noticeable effort towards this task (At least
thirty two shards of the same energy type), those three first that are with
the shards at the time below will be taught in the ways of transmutational
alchemy, those who have shared their effort but are not among the three that
did arrive first will be taught as well but at another time and up to a
maximum of three students yet in strict order in time as they did come to the
gathering, yet I appeal to the kindness of those three that would be taught
in the same day to spread the knowledge to those three that would have
arrived later, and of any others that would have arrived after those last
three.

(Once all the crystals are gathered, summon an imm to get into Behring and bring him all the crystals, so the researchers can start working ... hopefully, they will find out something interesting in the near future ! - any imm can do it; just make sure to drop me a mail to let me know that Behring got the exact number of crystals!)

Hello to all you Faerunians!

For the sake of luck, and to spread the gift of transmutational alchemy, I
have decided to open a public tender in which those fortunate enough will be
taught the very basics from me.

The rules are as follow: arbitrary I have designed several arbitrary groups:
Waterdeep/Silverymoon, Wylds, The Dales, the Moonsea/Dragon Coast and the
churches of the Wonderbringer/Waukeen. ***

People interested in learning must send me a letter with their name and the
group to which belong, after that those who have not applied to learn must
send me a letter as well indicating their support for only one candidate,
supporters can only vote to people from the group to which belong that will
be indicated in their letter as well, failing to that the vote will be void.

Gondars and Waukeenites are not bound to the regional grouping and so they
can only apply as members of the group church of Gond/Church of Waukeen,
members of those churches are free members of those churches are free to vote
either for a candidate of regional group or for a candidate of members of for
a candidate of he church group.

The list of candidates will not made public by me, so it's entirely up to the
candidates promote themselves.

Those candidates who got the most votes in their respective groups and upon a
payment of 50 platinum will be taught at a date and time convenient to both
us.

IMPORTANT: It's absolutely mandatory that the candidates have taken lessons
on how to be a better TEACHER so this knowledge can be passed to others.

Known homicidal troublemakers of the realms and members of the church of
Tyche's most unpleasant daughter and associates of them need no to apply as
candidates. To who teach the candidates it's entirely up to them.

designation, but members of this church are free to apply for a position in a
regional group should they wish so, even if elected I would teach an Oghman.

Crystals have been gathered for a while now but as far as I can tell we are just having organizational issues. And I'm really curious about this... And I know there are a lot of others that contributed to getting the shards that are curious as well. So.. I know Gesine has some, I'd like to try to get with Ryldaen, and Zelar sometime. Preferably sooner rather than later. I'd like to try maybe by friday we all meet up and hand up the shards to an imm. I can be online anytime so you two just get together with a time and let me know. Feel free to PM me if you want .

I am going to be on a fair bit on Friday so a meeting with Behring then would be good if we can arrange it.
