Wizard Schools requiring certain stats?

I have never quite understood why, to join a specific wizard school, you need to have a high stat in a specific field.

Not to get too detailed into game mechanics or the exact numbers, I have always found this requirement odd.

I am uncertain if this is something from 2nd Edition; I never played 2nd Edition D&D, but I do know 3rd Edition requires nothing of the sort.

Has it ever been discussed to remove these restrictions?

The restrictions have been removed in new and upcoming guilds as they asked me to remove the one for the (almost finished) invoker's guild. Perhaps if it hasn;t been removed from some of the older guilds pop an email over to builders?

Is this official for all the guilds? Should I also send in an email about the help files, as well, then?

The stat requirements are a carry over from 2nd edition where it was required you have a certain stat requirement to be able to join a specialist school.

Any chance this will be changed officially, then? Or has it already and I've missed it?

Could not take the guild of choice on my wizard due to these restrictions. He's a happy mage, but it wasn't his first choice. Its too late for me, but I fully support removing these restrictions for a brighter future of young wizards on their way up.

Hate to be a bumper but im planning a new illusionist charicter and the online helpfile still says a high dex is required. Ill prolly have a high dex anyway but im just curious if this has been totally removed. xoxoxoxryanc
