Age?
Age?
Just wondering, how does age work here? Is there any hardcoded things involving age? Or is it mostly for rp purposes? On a side note, what about charicters that where created a long time ago but havnt been active? They would have "aged" right? Or do we do specifically hour based age system?

Re: Age?
Without going too much into this Age is mostly subjective to how old you feel your character is as long as you do not go too far into one extreme away from your characters actual age. The only thing -I- have seen that coded age affects is adjectives. Some people never choose a personal adjective once they leave the training areas, so the game gives them one. But the game will give that character an adjective that compares their stats to yours. For example: Aveline is an older character, and she also has a high cha. score. So when some young whippersnapper comes out of the font she may see 'an ugly, young male human' . Where as one of my newer characters might see the exact same character as 'a tall male human'. Aveline is fairly tall as well so the character may have seemed short to her, where my newer character doesn't have the charisma that Ave has and is shorter than her, so in comparison, this character may seem tall to her. I know I'm babbling, but all of the above made complete sense to me . If you never chose a personal adjective for your character, then once your character hits a certain age, some characters will start seeing your description go from young to old. That's the only thing I've seen age change codewise.
Re: Age?
The system has changed from the old year-per-72-hours-played mechanic, to one where everyone ages a year per in-game year (28 days, or thereabouts).
To be entirely truthful, you're allowed to employ the benefit of the doubt where age is concerned. Some characters you might be happy to age, but others you may prefer to keep relatively timeless. There are no rules about roleplaying your exact age (you may even roleplay as older if you wish), so the general advice is to keep it as a guideline

Re: Age?
Raona's feeling younger already!
This is actually something I really appreciate, as I can't play the game near as much as I like and feel my PCs are likely to come into their own just as the age clock shows them ready to kick off. Having to stick tight to the scoresheet age would make me go exclusively with longer-lived races in the future.
We should probably change HELP AGE to reflect this, though, if it is official?

HELP Age wrote:The age of your character is calculated based on the system time when
your character is created. Approximately one real life month will equal
one game year. Your characters start age is dependant on your race. The
long lived races tend to start out older than the shorter lived ones. If
you wish to roleplay an age that is very different from your score then
let the immortals know with an application. We generally have no problem
with someone playing an age older than their score. We do however do not
condone anyone playing a child without getting immortal approval.
