Poison weapon - shockshield

I was using poison weapon for the first time today, and I noticed after I get my weapon successfully poisoned, while I am fighting, I get a shockshield. Also, I do not get the echoes that I used to see other thieves get when they had their weapons poisoned. About the victims shivering and suffering from being poisoned. I made a log:

You say to Sarecer 'Stay back, I tend to spill a few times before I get it right and it doesn't feel good.'

I tried several different ways of holding the poison weapon, poisoned different weapons.... all you should have to do to replicate this is poison a weapon and then go fight something

Has anyone else observed this problem as well?
