Race File Changes
We're getting hordes of questions about this, and I was hoping for some official comment from someone in the know...
My understanding is race files have been recently updated which affect player files as well, notably causing significant drops in some stats. Is this correct? Are any manual adjustments available to players who are now having major issues with skills/spells/equipment etc?
Thanks!

Re: Race File Changes
Some more details on what kind of stat drops or other affects have been encountered would be useful. What races have been affected and what stats have been reduced? What major issues have been encountered on skills/spells/equipment?

Re: Race File Changes
I'm just going to echo Mask's sentiment and add that if anyone has any first-hand experience of these issues it'd be handy for them to please report as much detail as they can about the situation.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Race File Changes
Dwarves used to get a Strength Bonus and Dexterity Penalty that they should have. I've since built a few characters that were affected by this change significantly. Only two of them I've put a lot of work on.
One character who was tailored with this in mind was affected so significantly that he can only carry 36 lbs. now.

Re: Race File Changes
The matter of the dwarf race file(s) is the only one we've been able to clarify officially to date - but if anybody notices anything else, please provide full details here.
Now as for dwarves -
It turns out the race file was previously tuned for arctic dwarves (or so it seems), which interestingly granted all dwarf characters a mighty +4 strength! In canon, shield dwarves and their similar ilk are only entitled to a +2con -2cha modifier based on their race, so that's where and why the changes were introduced.
We're sorry for any inconvenience caused - a message of explanation should have been posted prior to the changes, because the last thing we want to do is to make your characters unplayable.
Now immortal time is obviously limited, but if anybody finds that their character has become completely obsolete as a result of the stat change, please post the exact circumstances here (including character name, and all that malarky please) and the staff will endeavour to help you find some measure of balance again

Re: Race File Changes
I started scanning this post so I decided to log onto some of my exotic race characters, and going through, I found Dapher. Dapher used to be genius, now looking at his stats they are MUCH diffrent from what they once were.
Dapher
race, rock gnome
Con has jumped from average to health
int has dropped from genius down to brilliant
Dronor
race, forest gnome
str has dropped from titanic to powerful
It looks to me like only my smaller races were affected by the change. But with these characters being so low lvl it is not a problem for me to work around the stat changes.

Re: Race File Changes
You're right. This is just a quick update to confirm that rock gnomes have undergone a similar change in the same timescale. They were getting +2int and -2wis when it should have been -2str and +2con. Again, this is in accordance with the core rules, and the above applied about contacting immortals.

Re: Race File Changes
Yep! I'm sure we'll do our best to help everyone through the awkward transition.
I want to apologize to you folks in particular, seeing as it was my carelessness that lead to these changes coming in unannounced.
There are some additional alterations, too, that you ought to be made aware of:
Fire genasi were getting a +2 bonus to constitution that should actually have applied to intelligence
Likewise half-orcs were getting a -2 penalty to wisdom that should have been applied to charisma
Wild elves were only getting a +1 bonus to dexterity that's been upgraded to +2, just to prove that we're not trying to make things worse. Hurray!
Edited to add: Wood elves were given their -2 to charisma.
For what it's worth I've just now gone back over and double-checked all of the changes that were made with multiple 'Forgotten Realms' sources to be absolutely certain.
Anyhow, thank-you in advance for your patience with us during this period

Re: Race File Changes
I've only two characters that were greatly impacted by the change that I actually care about:
Werthic
Torand
The remainder are all low level and I can easily compensate with stats in the future.

Re: Race File Changes
I'm confused (shocking, isn't it?). Dwarves had their stats changed? I'm looking at Gilain and none of his stats have changed. Were they supposed to?
I'm happy with his stats, but if race files are being changed and he isn't changing along with them... I get concerned.

Re: Race File Changes
Well, I can't really remember off-hand what type of dwarf Gilain is, but the change only affected shield dwarves so none of the other dwarven sub-races should notice anything out of sorts.

Re: Race File Changes
Just noticed Brodnur's stats, and her str has dropped from powerful to average(not certain as to the exact numbers involved). Her carrywt is 121, while her body weight is 135. Her carrywt prior was somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 prior to the stat changes. Her race is shield-dwarf. If you guys need any more info, gimme a holler and I'll try and round it up for ya

I noticed my tabaxi's carry weight went down to where she couldn't move! Logged in with: CarryWt: 130.9/100

Re: Race File Changes
It's been over two months since this change; I was curious if anyone's characters were ever given any help when their characters became unplayable?

Re: Race File Changes
Alright, we think that everyone who reported a problem has now had their stats re-balanced. In most cases this simply involved lifting one stat in favour of the other affected one, usually lifting the strength stat back to a more reasonable level.
