Re: Orc Tournament
Canon-wise yes, they are the specialty priests. But I dont know if the title gets expanded, or a different one is found.

There is an orcish, priest-only quest in the game that grants the title, though no special orders.

Re: Orc Tournament
When I typed out the original posting, I was mainly working from the words used by the Immortal I talked to. Perhaps a better distinction would be if a priest wins, they are the Lazguoi instantly.. If a fighter wins, they are named the Warboss (which, as I understand it, is more highly regarded than the Lazguoi) and can then choose to name a Lazguoi, of their choice.
This is just a thought, and, regardless of the title, the winner will be put into a place of power.
Something I probably should have put into the original post but did not think to include at the time.. If you plan to participate in this, I do ask that you keep in mind it may mean you have to make your orc a more active character of yours. Because of the nature of this tournament, anyone could win, and it would not be exactly desired that someone do so, and have no interest in playing their orc again

Re: Orc Tournament
I've been kind of watching this from afar, and it's not quite in step with cannon. It might be one of those points that FK will split away from FR on, but I thought I would point this out.
Races of Faerun: Gray Orc
The chieftain/warbozz position on the other hand is the one won by defeating the last strongest orc, or assuming his position once he's dead in battle. They really only command fully and entirely in military affairs, and only so long as they can keep hold of their position.
Races of Faerun: Mountain Orc
Not so clear, but there are references to Kings in several points. Seems to be a warbozz type position, with the shamans again advising. Clerics don't have quite the power here, but they still have the backing of Grummsh.
Monstergods: Grummsh (http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/monste ... ruumsh.htm)
So by FR background, and everything I've read, the tourney for warbozz is with cannon. However the Lazgoui should be determined by IMMs based on time/activity in the faith. Also should be noted that given the subtle power of the clerics in the faith, if they really didnt like the new warbozz... he might have an accident. The warbozz is very replaceable compared to the high priest position.
Races of Faerun: Gray Orc
So.... The day-to-day power and leader is really the high priest, and the priests supporting him/her. The priest position is a permanent one, and held for many years at a time, appointed by the faith. These priests advise military affairs, but leave the running of such to the current chieftain. You don't kill a high priest like you would a warbozz... they are the closest thing to a voice of the god there is.A typical gray orc tribe ...led by the strongest orc in the tribe. This orc is known as a chieftain (This would be the warbozz), and he is responsible for deciding when the tribe attacks its neighbors. The position tends to be a temporary one at best, for orc chieftains are constantly being killed (either in battle or through treachery) and replaced by new chieftains. The true power behind a tribe of gray orcs, though, is the tribe's high priest, (lazgoui) who is typically an adept or cleric (often female) who has held the position for many years. The gray orcs are zealots, and the word of their tribal clerics is law.

Again... the priests/high priest (lazguoi) is the real power behind the chieftain. The tribes that follow Gruumsh tend to be the most "generic" tribes. They are bent on conquest, but are also possessed of a certain low cunning, and will not throw their lives away needlessly. These tribes include the Evil Eye and Impaled Head tribes. The priests of Gruumsh will typically be the power behind the chieftains, and will only expose themselves when absolutely necessary.

If this is the quest that is in the temple area then it is currently not working correctly. It was one of the things that Ooma's player and Kregor's player were hoping to get the go ahead to fix.

I THINK that all area modification/fix requests are handled through the area team. If you've spotted a quest that doesn't work right and are willing to fix it, send your request there please.

Re: Orc Tournament
"There" is actually being worked on at the moment! The old builders email has been decommissioned, and we are still working on what to replace it with. For now, please report to Bugs section of the forum (if you don't want to fix yourself), or communicate with Lathlain by PM (if you want to offer to fix it yourself).Lathander wrote:I THINK that all area modification/fix requests are handled through the area team.
