Re: More helpfile errors
With the return of Sune Paladins the order of the ruby Rose helpfile needs to be altered back to what it was. It used to say Paladins, fighters, and bards of Sune now it just says Fighters and Bards. Since they will make the eventual return yarrrr <.<!!
I take only what I need and I need everything!

I have changed this help file to amend the error.

Re: More helpfile errors
Thanks Liandria, that's a fine suggestion! I did my best to specify the prerequisite level, and clarified what the feat actually does (which I think was tweaked when we overhauled feats).Liandria wrote:It's not exactly an error (hope its ok that I post this here), but "high intelligence" is really vague, even vaguer than the current word-stat system. I doubt one needs to be Omniscient in Int to get this feat, but that is the highest listed in the Intelligence help file. Would it be possible to replace "high intelligence" with the description actually appearing on the score sheet? Thanks!Help Expertise
Expertise feat
==============
This feat means you are trained at using your combat skills for defence
as well as offence. This feat increases your armour class when in battle.
When fighting defensively (combatmode +defensive), the penalty to hit
is reduced with this feat.
This feat has a pre-requisite of a high intelligence.

Re: More helpfile errors
Thanks for the report, Lysha! I think Aveline managed to fix this, with some help from Mask!
Going forward, if you (think you) have found a helpfile problem, please report it to the Bug Reporting forum. We've combined code and helpfile repairs under one roof, there! [We did this because often helpfile errors are actually code bugs, and because code bugs are sometimes actually helpfile errors!]

Shield of Faith
===============
Abjuration
Range: Touch
Target: Defensive
Syntax: cast 'shield of faith'
This spell creates a shimmering, magical field around the touched creature
that averts attacks. The spell grants the subject a deflection bonus to AC,
with an additional bonus as your skill level increases.
(A) 1st Level Cleric Spells
Shouldn't the syntax be " cast 'shield of faith' [target]? "

Experience
==========
Syntax: level
Your character advances in power by gaining experience. Type LEVEL to see
how far you are from next level. This is represented in the form of a
percentage. Once you have enough experience you must visit a trainer
in order to train your level. There are various level trainers around
the kingdoms.
You gain experience by:
inflicting damage upon an opponent
succeeding while learning a skill or casting a spell through real world
usage
completing some quests
rewards for good roleplay
You lose experience by:
fleeing from combat
recalling out of combat
being the target of some spells (energy drain, etc.)
dying
The experience you get from a killing depends on several things:
* if you are in your group (there is a bonus for grouping);
* your level versus the level of the monster;
Note: Experience is not given out at the end of the kill, but rather
for the damage you inflict in the battle.
There is an experience cap per level to prevent players from gaining
too much experience at the lower levels, abusing code to advance quicker
than they should.
It is not a percentage anymore but a text

Re: More helpfile errors
Posting to bug reporting rather than this thread helps us ensure we don't miss your report...as it looks like we have done with the faith alignment restrictions. I'll have to open a new can of worms for that one!
We really do appreciate the helpfile error reports, but even if you are certain the error is solely in a helpfile please report it to bug reporting so that we don't skip over it. When you first post it, the post will "disappear," but don't worry, we will act on it when we can, on a priority basis! (Helpfiles may not be the fastest to be actioned.)
Thanks for your help improving the game, everyone!

Re: More helpfile errors
This is not exactly an error, but a suggestion. I have no clue where to put it, so this is the best I could figure. Would it be a good idea to place in race helpfiles the kismet cost? Someone aspiring to make a new character needs to be able to plan for these things, and account for the kismet cost. SO he does not go in to make it an realise "Oh no...I am short 100 kismet" At the moment, I am looking into a new character and I have NO clue what the kismet cost is for the one I want to make. Obviously there are ways to figure it out, but it is a long and frusterating task.

Re: More helpfile errors
There's a helpfile, kismet costs for various races. It has the kismet costs, though I think it needed updated last I checked.
Luthir, Nylo, Ordyn, Halon, Adric, Malic
Re: More helpfile errors
Luthir is right about that helpfile. It should be up to date, but I'll try to remember to add links.

Re: More helpfile errors
more a question than anything. Looked up helpfile on Drow
Drow
====
Also known as dark elves, drow are a depraved and generally evil
subterranean offshoot of elves. They were once part of the happy
community of Elves which roam the forests today, but have long
since moved under the ground, building vast subterranean cities and
complex networks of caves. Characterized by jet-black skin and pale
hair, white being the most common, they share similiar physical
appearance to their surface-dwelling cousins, though they tend to be
slightly smaller and thinner than other sorts of elves, with their
eye color appearing red. Living in a rigid matriarchal society, Drow
have little in common with their top-dwelling counterparts past their
appearance.
Members of this race specialize in spell casting, and have thus developed
a very high intelligence. Being creatures of darkness the Drow tend to
fight more proficiently in the darkness, and have innate darkvision with
which to discern objects and living things in the absence of light.
* Drow have an innate ability to throw Faerie Fire
Is the last statement true for all Drow? My warrior certainly doesnt seem to have this ability unless i'm missing it
HMMM SCRAP THIS...SEEMS I DO HAVE IT AFTER ALL!!! Just need to figure out how to use it
