Re: Personality Quirks
I have one main quicks....
While gaming seriously (fps, rts or such fast paced games) my mouse needs to have a very precise weight... I can feel if it is 1 mg more or less and it completely ruin my play because of the stress. That's why I used to build my own mouses for gaming...

Re: Personality Quirks
Missed the boat on this, but not any longer!
I am a punctuation/capitalization fiend, but only in typing/text format. If I send out a say, smote, tell, or even a text message without the proper ending punctuation, I can hardly look at it without seeing it as wrong. If I don't capitalize correctly (beginning of sentence, "I", etc) it looks wrong. If I spell something wrong, or even if it looks like it is wrong, I'll look it up in the dictionary. I emphasize grammar slightly less than these things because I speak with horrible grammar everyday, often knowingly because I get lazy. But if I'm typing I'll be much more meticulous.
But I think that's my only real quirk. Besides maybe a continual need to be saturated with media and multitasking, but I think that's much more common.

Re: Personality Quirks
I'm not sure if this is a quirk or not, but I find it highly coincidental, especially considering that I really do not believe in the paranormal.
I don't mind sharing this, but my birthday is April 21st. The American format for dates goes M/D/Y, so my birthday would be 0421 or 421. I see these numbers EVERYWHERE. I swear I look at the clock at 4:21 every day - hell, I've woken up several times at night right at 4:21 AM. I see 421 on license plates all the time. I have several fast food receipts where my order number was 421, which in itself is someone odd because usually they just got from 0-99 and then restart at 0. Anyone else experience something like this?
P.S. Brilliant thread idea.

My number is 1047. Totally the same thing-radio stations, clocks (every day, am and pm), fortune cookie numbers, restaurant numbers, etc. Though I don't have the birthday connection, just a weird thing about that number.
Glad I'm not the only one!!

For a long time, it was 747 for me.

Re: Personality Quirks
Oh great. Now I have another quirk for my list. Everywhere I go now I am looking to see if 116 shows up anywhere. And 11685 actually did show up on one of my tests at the hospital. I never would have noticed before! But it is one of those things that now that I know, I'm seeing it everywhere! So now people have another reason to look at me funny and there isn't even a box of pizza in the room.
Re: Personality Quirks
Ok, so...
I work at a fairly large engineering plant. There is a huge parking lot. I went to lunch today; came back, found a spot. What do I notice as I'm walking back? The FIRST TWO cars immediately next to me both have a license plate of 421-XXX (XXX representing random letters). Is that freaky or what? I'm going to take a pic if they're still there when I leave.

Re: Personality Quirks
Being of the Aspergian persuasion, I won't bother writing out a list of everything I do that's considered "quirky" because it would be far too long, and I would probably get stressed out about making it complete and never actually finish it
But like a few others here, I have a bit of a thing about dates/times.
When I see a clock showing 16.03 I think "that was the year that Queen Elizabeth I died."
Last week, I received a letter from a company that had their textphone number on the bottom, beginning: 18001 0191 232
I excitedly babbled to Alice "If they re-spaced that it would be 1800 10 1912!! Like the years!!!"
She laughed at me, but in a nice way
(For a bonus, the company is something to do with museums and archives. I was delighted.)
Recently, a trip to the supermarket yielded a receipt showing a total of £15.92
Alice noticed me looking at it and asked what I was thinking. I decided to be truthful...
"It's £15.92, which is 100 more than 1492. In 14-hundred-and-ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue. And he was funded by Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain, who were the parents of Princess Catalina, who was betrothed to Arthur, Prince of Wales, but later married Henry VIII and became known as Katherine of Aragon, and was the first of his six wives..."
And so on

Re: Personality Quirks
Ok so I have been trying to catch up on things lately and I was looking through some of my old posts and found this. I have been cracking up for the past hour and thought I would share with some of you newer people. It is only right that you are aware of the level of crazy you are dealing with here.
Re: Personality Quirks
I'm not insane. I'm just a normal fellow who still plays text-based games in 2013...coo coo ca choo.

1. Irregardles is not a word. It's "regardless." Thank you.
2. My radio cannot be tuned to an odd-number level of volume unless it is a multiple of five. Ever.
3. Prime numbers are the least evil of odd-numbers, but the evil-most number is three.
4. Everything must be symmetrical. Anything not, will be adjusted.
5. Do NOT step on cracks, open umbrellas inside, spill salt, or indulge any such other action that might stir up bad luck. I have enough!
I have more, many more, but that's enough embarrassing Ki quirks for now.

I have all these, plus these:Kinni wrote: 1. Irregardles is not a word. It's "regardless." Thank you.

3. Prime numbers are the least evil of odd-numbers, but the evil-most number is three.
4. Everything must be symmetrical. Anything not, will be adjusted.
5. I don't sleep - I nap here and there sometimes for an hour or two, but I don't fall asleep. If I take medicines that induce sleep I am usually worse off, because sleep screws up my brain.
6. I clean when people are angry at me for something, never fails, get mad that I used the wrong cup... and I'll start doing dishes. Get miffed that I didn't hang up my towel, and I do laundry... just get mad, and rooms will be spotless.
7. I walk when I talk on the phone, doesn't matter who I'm talking to, or what. I just mill about when I'm using the phone, even on hold I do this - I hate hold music for this reason, as I can usually get away with sitting down if it's completely silent on the other end.
8. I like huge amounts of small denomination coins, I am also OCD with them and will spend hours counting and recounting until I'm happy with them.
9. Like things must be with like things! All things are sorted and resorted, until I am happy that all things are ordered according to their associations and likenesses. Don't ever give me a jar of pennies, after I break it over your head, I will spend as much as two or three days working to sort and resort the pennies.
10. Loathe writing lists, I can easily memorize things and don't like to write a list for this purpose.
many many more, but this should be good.

Re: Personality Quirks
1. Meme triggers. I'm full of them. I memorize lyrics and lines and then my brain spits them out without my consent. It's like saying "shave and a haircut" to a cartoon character. For example:
4. My handwriting changes - drastically - based on my message, subject matter and audience. In my high school years, I was once investigated for cheating because of this - fortunately, a staff member had actually been in the room the entire time and watched me enter, write the paper, and leave.
5. I involuntarily engage in the Bewitched nose wiggle, especially when excited to see someone.
- a. Any mention of rabbits will trigger "Runnybabbits! You know - fall, uzzy snanimals with lig begs, abut bis thig - leat your ettuce and then ray laisins."
b. Use of the "F" word to express surprise results in a recitation of that scene from Boondock Saints; if you've seen the movie I have no doubt you know which one I mean.
c. Encounters with coffee produce at least one verse of "Stress" by Jim Infantino. Three guesses which verse.
d. Do not injure your rear end in my presence. I will immediately and uncontrollably respond with an excerpt from the Whitest Kids You Know's Abraham Lincoln skit.
e. This is not even close to an all-inclusive list.
3. Yes, yes and more yes. In addition, I don't care if Merriam-Webster now recognizes "flustrated." I never will, and they're just a bunch of linguistic sell-outs anyway.Irregardles is not a word. It's "regardless." Thank you.

Re: Personality Quirks
This looked intresting, may as well wake the dead
1. Sounds in Place of words - I often replaces words with sounds. The two my family (and strangers) are witness too is my hiss. If I don't like something (or someone) I will generally hiss, very much like a cat apprently. And if I am unsure about something I generally begin rattleling like a rattlesnake.
2. Noise - Actualy in generaly I make all sorts of sounds. A social styme or the cause of something else, I don't know. But noise is what I do at random times or for set reasons
3. Toe Curling - Whenever I am watching T.V or having a conversation with someone, I curl my toes. I also curl them before putting on my shoes - which when I was VERY little, caused my folks a major headache when tyring to get my shoes on XD
4. Twin Sleeps - I cannot confirm or deny this. But I am fairly certain I can't sleep untill my twin asleep or at least always end up going to bed around the same time (and we go to/stay at different colleges mind you)
5. I have to go to the bathroom before taking a bath. It dosn't matter if I had just gone 10, 5, or even 2 minuts before. The moment I decide I am going to take a bath, I have to use the bathroom.
6. Bowls over plates anyday. I will go as far as transferring all my food into a bowl, even if it means I have to wash more dishes. The exceception is reastraunts, because ain't no one got time for that
7. Shrimp - in my family we generally pick off of each other plate. The exception is, do not, under any circumstances take my shrimp without asking. The exception is my twin sister and even she still gets the evil eye
