Flight?

Post by Blug » Sun Mar 14, 2004 3:06 pm

I don't really understand Flight at all. In the game it says that you rise into currents of air, which would suggest that the air is coming underneath you and picking you up. I've always wondered this, what keeps it from shooting your robes up over your head and giving you a really frizzy haircut?
And they ran through the bush
And they ran through the bramble
And they ran through the briars where the rabbit wouldn't go
They ran so fast the hounds couldn't catch 'em
And I stumbled on my beard and I had to let 'em go.

You might rise on currents of air but it doesn't mean you have air swirling around your body.

Besides, a wizard did it ;) No need to look deeper

Here is the question.

What happens if you suddenly stop flying by a dispel magic trap or a ambush by a dispeller?

You fall.

Though if the spell ends by its own duration, you slowly float down.

Fly affecting stamina drain?

Post by Isolrem » Wed Jun 15, 2005 8:02 pm

So far, from what I can observe, Fly just takes a certain percentage off of the normal stamina drain. But when someone is deprived of one or both of their legs, and is forced to hop/crawl, the stamina drain remains quite significant (especially in mountain areas) while in reality they should be floating with no hindrance from their missing limbs.
So should stamina drain be removed completely (so that it is same as walking) for crawl and hop?

I woudl imagine that stamina does not mean simply the act of walking. If you had lost you leg even if you were flying....it would be very difficult and draining for you to move at all. SO I can see how you stamina might be even more sucked away when missing a limb or having one mangled. But thats just my oppinon. :P

The flyer could also not be able to concentrate so much on flying because the immense amount of pain he is in. Which I believe would be more taxing then floating along normally.

But these are thinigs covered by the other health system (e.g. actual health) and aid spells, constitution, etc. Shouldn't necessarily add additional influence to stamina drain in flight.

A severed leg is going to affect more then just health.

I would liken this to swimming myself

Losing a leg would certainly make it harder and you would tire faster.

Plus you cannot steer or balace only a half a trunk, you need the legs to hold the steady path like a bird balancing on it's tail feathers.
