Score/Affected Q&A!

As some of us noticed already, there have been some changes to the Score/Defence and Affected/Resistance commands. The new Score/Defence information is set up much like you would see on an actual D&D sheet. Most numbers are no longer hidden behind vague words and allow you to see directly what your feats and items are actually doing for you!

I know I've already received a couple questions asking things like:
Example wrote:Which one of these two is better?
1d6+12 Hit Bonus: +0 Critical: 2x
or
2d4+11 Hit Bonus: -2 Critical: 2x
Well, the answer is: personal preference. Do you want to hit harder but less often or hit more often for less damage? One of the greatest things about D&D is options. :D

Before lots of helpfiles undergo changes to assist with the transition from old to improved, it's probably best we give everyone a chance to have their questions addressed so we know what needs to be highlighted on the help files.

As a side note, the unarmed damage does not yet display. This is intentional because additional work needs to be done as there are monstrous races in FK. :)

btw, I'm curious about the now "rogue" stat luck, is still taken in consideration (to whatever it's/was used) and if it will visible at all.

Good question.

The answer is the stat still exists, it's just hidden. I've already edited the help file for 'help character statistics' and it's awaiting approval, however eventually you'll see the response:

Actually it might be the only case where having a text description would be better than a numeric value :D, one might think of himself as "unfortunate" or "charmed" according at his bad/good luck and events related to them. Perhaps a new command "luck" that would echo to the player; You feel XXXXXXX (lucky/favored/whatever)

In another related note; it's also very good seeing now how your load affects to your maximum dexterity bonus! good work!

I noticed with one of my characters that bulls strength spell increases the damage of the weapon through the new STR bonus, but does not increase the to hit values as expected. Is that by design?

What weapon are you using?
Do you have any special feat for that weapon?

Mace, and no I have no special feats with the weapon but that shouldn't matter.

The to hit bonus is supposed to be calculated by the BAB or "AB" in this case, and the STR bonus. As the STR bonus increases, the damage bonus and to-hit bonus should increase with all melee weapons regardless of feats and or weapon type.

The more information, the easiest it is to try to find out if there is a bug and where ;)

What is your caracter size?
Is your mace the right size for you?
Do you wear it in your good hand and not in your offhand?
Are you in normal combat mode or defensive mode?
How proficient are you with your weapon?
Is it a standard mace or a magical one?

Looks like one of the updates done removed showing the strength to the addition of the hit bonus field.

I tested it on Torand who has 18 strength (+4 bonus), weapon focus (+1), and a +1 hit and damage weapon.

I turned off defensive mode and I still have only a +2 bonus in the to-hit field.. Looks like that field's only calculating feats and magical bonus. We'll keep ya posted! :D

Ive tested it with zorinar now.
Here are the things that work and do not work: I have not listed every variable to the tests but rest assured they were tested in a variety different situations like having many spells on, no spells on, all different combat modes, weapons in either hand, no weapons etc....

Bull strength is not increasing to hit bonus with GM weapons in any combat mode.
Slink is not increasing the dex-max-allowed dex bonus.

Sagicity is increasing will save.
Slink is not increasing the reflex save for me.
Trollish vigor is increasing fort save but was reported by selveem earlier to not increase move points and possibly not increasing HP.

I cant find anything else wrong at the moment with the stat affecting spells that I check out. I will post more if I find them.

I think that max dex bonus is being set because you are carrying too much. If you have a medium load, your max dex bonus is capped at a possible +3. If it's a heavy load, the max dex bonus is capped at +1.

You should still get the reflex bonus.

Today's just one of those special days, huh? I looked at my score today and I had another Holy Crap moment. :D Looks nice! It'll take me a lil getting used to. I like that my adj is displayed on the sheet as well.

correction on slink:
It works fine. I realized that you need an extremely light load to get the full effects.

Small reminder...
With this new score sheet in, someone should attack various helpfiles and update the 'friendly"/"average"/"wise", ect ect requirements, such as teacher feats to their related number values.

I was talking about the amount to be displayed on the actual score sheet, but i'm just fine with typing worth :D

It was displayed before just like with the worth command, money has to be in the inventory and not in any containers. Should the worth command be updated to show how much experience you have left until the next level or is that going to stay vague as well?
