This has been bugging me for a while now and I might as well ask for it.
Mystra temple in Silverymoon has 2 NPCs that stock a variety of decorative bottles and flasks for brewing. Unfortunately, these vendors are restricted to faith members only.
Please, please... take off that restriction. There is no reason why the majority of the interesting looking flasks should only be in the hands of one faith. One or two types, yes. Many guilds, faiths, and organizations have their own special flask, a perk of membership and that is great. But these vendor have at least 10 variations that are locked away from most of the playerbase. Many other temples have certain vendors open to the public for non-faith item wares like gems and such. Would be nice to see the old code cracked open on Silverymoon and allow these flasks to enter the playerbase again.

Meh. Two-way street. There are plenty of armor vendors and the like that only sell to faith members. Trainers, also, who only train specific faith members. I think if the 'perks' of joining a faith are opened up to all, it should be all perks.
Besides, what's so bad about befriending a Mystran and asking them to purchase for you?

Different things. Restricted armor/weapons often are faith marked or faith related (i.e. coined shaped chainmail is Tymoran) or special in some way and only for the faithful. The vials in question are not marked in any fashion connected to Mystra. Also there are many temples that sell non-faith items to anyone. Most of the 'open' temples are far more recent code than Silverymoon. If Siverymoon was introduced today, I would like to believe alot of it wouldn't be the same. It was a different mindset back then.Selveem wrote:Meh. Two-way street. There are plenty of armor vendors and the like that only sell to faith members. Trainers, far as I can tell... that is at the whim of the builder. I have visited many temples that my characters can train at every mob and others they cannot even train mount at the stables. If all temples/faith areas were faith-only training, I would give you that, but they are not.
You mean convincing a faith member that selling items from faith-only vendors wont get them in trouble? Thats a hard sell, trust me... I've tried.Besides, what's so bad about befriending a Mystran and asking them to purchase for you?
Edit: Also, this is an expendable item. Friends are helpful, but being asked every other day to make a trip for more vials gets old fast. Just ask any miner...

Personally, I'm in favor of opening up shops that are selling things that aren't necessarily faith-specific. If the flasks aren't Mystran-themed, I don't see them being faith-specific.
I like to think of it as traveling and buying various trinkets from trinket shops. Except our trinket shops tend to be in Temples.

I agree, I mean if they aren't items for faith members only why limit? There are plenty of vendors that would fill a mystran temple for those that go to visit to honor that diety and sell to those people. They are looking for a quick silver too!

Re: Release potion bottles please
I have little opinion on the exclusivity of the existing bottles, but I'd rather see a builder or three just add some into more appropriate shops. Just simple magic-related shops or even just add a vnum in like three or four of the more visited cities. I'm more than willing to do this if it's the preferable avenue to travel down.

I think that's a great idea, Benji. I'll happily work with you on that if you like

Re: Release potion bottles please
Either, or, both... all works for me.
As a player of a few brewers, I like variety besides 'glass flasks' or 'pink jars'. If someone is planning on adding in an open vendor with new bottles/flasks/jars, great. I know new ones could be built in, but seeing such a nice selection already in-game, but behind an aged and outdated lock and key... it just rubs me the wrong way.
