Marchlord's Tourney - Event of the Sword

Post by Briek » Sun Sep 12, 2010 8:23 pm

Heralds from across the Realms cry out....

Lords and Ladies, Knights and squires, serjeants and men-at-arms alike let it be known to all that an event of the sword is to be
held at the behest of Lord Rikos Dughol, Count of Hazamarch and Marchlord of Tethyr. The Marchlord holds this competition in
the hope it will sport the greatest of footsoldiers from all around in response to the Lady Kyrin Hawkwinter's Joust
of the Rhindauan, in light of the....friendly competition between them both.

All willing may compete as long as they are not enemies of the sovereign state of Tethyr and are prepared to follow all the rules of
the tourney and display respect and courtesy towards the officials and fellow combatants.

The entry fee to compete will be five coins of platinum in any mint (exchange houses may be found readily in Darromar) and spectators may watch the proceedings for no charge. The event itself will take place in the Royal Gardens of Rhinda inside the grounds of Fearntarn in the City of Darromar.
OOC:

Purpose of the event - A melee event for the chance at some man-at-arms roleplay

Rules: Anyone wishing to compete use must a mundane melee weapon of their choice, they may wear magical armour and carry a magical shield but all other trinkets and buffs must be removed.

The combatants will have the opportunity to use any of the following skills three times only: disarm, stun, bash (this is three times only for all, not each)

combatants may kick and/or punch at will, no constraint is placed against this.

Combatants have the option to either complete three rounds on killmode spar in which to roleplay or begin on killmode stun whichever is preferred by both parties.

time of the event - this time is tentative so far I need to know if all interested can make it, let me know what will be best for you all and we will see what we can do to get a time that works (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... c=0&p1=136)

I will be enlisting some help with this, those willing PM me!

That time would work for me!
And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

2100 UTC and then you can adjust from there.

Okay acceptance of entrants will be based on race rather than alignment so

races that will be allowed:

Human
Half-elf
elf
Aasimar
Tiefling (they might want to disguise themselves considering, but that's not a requirement)
Dwarf
Halfling
Gnome
Genasi

Those that will not be allowed to compete are:

Bugbears
Orcs
Goblins
Centaurs
Wemics
Drow/half Drow

please do point out if I have left any off this list

Question why Tieflings yes and Half-Drow no ?

I would have thought it a lot easier for a half-drow to disguise themselves than some of the more interesting variteys of tiefling.

Because there will be elves in attendance most likely and if a drow is recognised it's more likely to turn into an unorganised brawl rather than a tournament or at least a long shouting match.

The taverns in Darromar buzz with excitement over the approaching tournament. In particular the commons are excited because the word is that a senior member of the Champions Vigilant, a Tethyrian paladin order dedicated to Helm (and very popular with the people), will observe the tournament with a particular eye to the conduct of squires participating in the contest.
i.e. Those of you older squires looking to prove your worth and return to the fold, so to speak, this is a chance to possibly prove your worth. New squires looking to distinguish themselves should also be interested.
