Sneaking/Hiding/Sense causes stay in Realm of Death

Post by Gwain » Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:47 am

If you are sneaking and hiding in the game and then use the sense skill, there will be a long pause of lag then you will find yourself permanently in the Realm of Death alive. I was in a room of wilderness when it occurred. I was told to post it as it may have been corrected previously and just reverted.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

Re: Sneaking/Hiding/Sense causes stay in Realm of Death

Notes to self: "sense" enabled by casting "speak with dead;" added as keyword to Speak with Dead helpfile

The root problem seems to be that some program commands don't work if the target is hidden. I was able to reproduce the problem, but not every time, so there's more to it than that, but we'll try fixing the program commands not working on hidden targets first.

I was only able to get "sense" to do anything, and when it did it trapped me in the Realms of the Dead, as advertised, by issuing the sense command several times in rapid succession.

Thanks for the report, Gwain!

This problem should now be fixed, and the fix should remedy not only this but several other oddities related to hidden/sneaking PCs. Thanks for taking the time to report it, Gwain!

As always, if you see any oddities related to this matter (unfixed aspects of this bug, or new problems that seem closely related and may be the result of our efforts to fix it), please report them in a reply to this message. Thanks!
