Okay I believe this subject has been raised before, however here I go...
a few faiths get a token as a supplicate item which, as far as I can see since I started playing has
no application at all so the question is...
do we get rid? or do we do something with them?
if we get rid of them what do we replace them with?
if we keep them, what can be done with them?
supplication tokens: use them? or bin them?
Re: supplication tokens: use them? or bin them?
Personally, I'd like to see them get completely replaced with newer, nicer items, including the ones that have already been supplicated so that people don't get stuck with super useless tokens. As for what to replace them with, I'm not quite sure. I've only ever seen a few of the supplicate items, but they usually seem like they're chosen to be usable by all classes.
If something were to be done with the tokens (I'd still rather see them go, but ideas for keeping them couldn't hurt), I would hope it is an automated and repeatable process that players could continue to benefit from.
Using them to buy access into immortal run roleplays would be just silly and would only make them worthwhile once in, what, two or three years? Maybe just once ever? Anything that takes constant effort on the part of the immortals is bound to be forgotten sooner or later. Plus, special events take schedule coordination, which is never a fun process.
They could be used to kick off a special automated quest for each faith that gets them, which would mean that each person with a token could get to complete it on an individual basis. However, unless the quest can be done repeatedly, it would still be a one time thing, and for what? Maybe a nice item? Why doesn't my goddess just give me the item instead?
Maybe have a mob that lets you trade them in for other things? Maybe items, maybe something else (Small, one-time attribute bonuses? We Tymorans need something that actually increases luck!). Of course, if you let the faiths with tokens get to pick multiple items, then that wouldn't be fair to the ones that only get the one item (But they've gone years without the disappointment of receiving a token! Payback time! ). Trading in the token could be a one time deal, but then the token faiths are still getting cheated since the other faiths can keep supplicating items as long as they have the favor for it.
There's a few ideas to get things started.

Re: supplication tokens: use them? or bin them?
Disagree. Personally, I like the idea of gaining favor AND getting something special just for my class from my God rather than a random item that my class either can use, but it's far from optimal or can't wear because it's for the wrong class. We just need more builders writing these quests. With the drives that are going on to get the blood in the water for builders to attack on, I highly doubt this issue has been overlooked.Zasheir wrote:Personally, I'd like to see them get completely replaced with newer, nicer items
Agree; items are supposed to be given directly from your God to you. Some of these items are wholly underpowered and wouldn't even qualify as a minor artifact in terms of power. It's not as if 'favor farming' is prevalent (or even easy, anymore), so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be slightly better than the rewards of many upper-mid-level quests. I mean, it's from your freaking God.Zasheir wrote:including the ones that have already been supplicated
Agree and disagree. I don't want it to turn into something that should be farmed, but if something is lost, I do agree it should be able to be re-obtained by supplicating the token and re-doing the test.Zasheir wrote:If something were to be done with the tokens (I'd still rather see them go, but ideas for keeping them couldn't hurt), I would hope it is an automated and repeatable process that players could continue to benefit from.
I agree that a lot of things fail because they require player (including Imms in here) attention. Our staff members have a lot of things they do (some do areas, some do applications, some are specially tasked with yelling at me ). If it grants access to a special anything, maybe a special area where you actually get to go to your God's home plane and do something to be rewarded with something ultra nice.Zasheir wrote:Using them to buy access into immortal run roleplays would be just silly and would only make them worthwhile once in, what, two or three years? Even if you did, it's not like you'd be able to see it in your score. I've long believed luck doesn't actually have any use on FK; I've had characters with low luck and some who've trained it as high as it would go. I've never seen a difference in RPs or coded benefits. If there are benefits, they're very negligible.Zasheir wrote:Maybe have a mob that lets you trade them in for other things? As far as what to actually do with faith tokens, I think just keep them for now. You might as well. I'm sure more things will become available eventually.

Re: supplication tokens: use them? or bin them?
I like (and have already had big thinking about it) the idea to use tokens for special god related quest (that may be class oriented too for a fitting reward).
Other idea I might see is to use the token to change the other supplicate items of that god.
For exemple : use a token to change your small shield of moradin as a heavy or tower shield
Other idea : use a token to upgrade the other supplicate items magical qualities according to your level.
For exemple, you supplicate at low level and get a +1 weapon. At mid and high level, you can use a token to upgrade your weapon so its magical abilities more fit your level and is not the weakest part of your equipment...

Hey there,
Curious if anything was ever done to this?

Some religions with tokens now have quests to match them. I am only one man though.

Re: supplication tokens: use them? or bin them?
Is there a way to determine where to begin such quests? Might it be possible that some of the tokens come with an echo similar to "You feel as though you should seek a priest named Kismet"(just an example) or somesuch?
