Since the latest changes to the VT interface, objects now appear in the far right column as a single column of text. This means that if there are more than five objects on the ground, you only see the first five that are listed unless you look at the room.
It's a minor irritation, but it would be nice if somehow you could choose what you see in the interface. e.g. someone might choose to see the order of columns as:
Group-enemies-neutral-objects (allowing them to see up to 5 objects on the ground)
Someone else might choose:
Group-enemies-objects1-objects2 (allowing them to see up to 10 objects on the ground)
There might be other ways to offer each player a way to set it up as they please. Maybe someone doesn't care to see the little stick guy or they only want to see that when they're in combat, someone else might prefer the map to disappear when combat starts. What about an option to set-up a different VT for combat and non-combat?
I actually don't have any idea of how easy it would be to make the interface set-up configurable, but since Mask brought up the idea in the first place it must be possible.
What does everyone think? Would you like to be able to change the configuration of it to suit you?

Re: Tactical interface configuration
This is not necessarily a mutually exclusive idea to yours, Lirith.
What if we just had another column for items all the time? Is that too big?

Re: Tactical interface configuration
I know VT100 was initially designed to conform to 800x600 screen resolutions that were ever-so-popular in the 90s and early 00s.
But is it possible to add a second VT100 (VT101?) that players could turn on instead? With the heavy developments in technology, I'm sure a fair number of players are running resolutions significantly higher than 800x600 and as such, could support much wider uses of VT100. This way players could turn on VT101 to see more columns, for things such as what Lirith suggested.

Re: Tactical interface configuration
Good point - we could not only make what columns go where configurable, but allow the user to define the height of the tactical part, and also the width, to allow for wider terminal sizings.
Re: Tactical interface configuration
Actually, I've made the column selection 'more dynamic' and automated. It would be much easier to make the number of vertical rows available to tactical, rather than the number of rows - so instead of having 3 columns of 5 entries, you could have 2 columns of 10 entires (for example).
Re: Tactical interface configuration
Hey Mask,
Is it possible to have a config option to leave your prompt visible even when using vt100?
I don't use vt100 specifically for this reason; it's not as handy for my logs.

Re: Tactical interface configuration
One new suggestion for this, the ability to "target" people and thus putting them in their own column.
Would be very nice when trying to monitor someone precise and there is too many people in the room.
