Polearm/mounted polearm

Post by Tyrrell » Tue Jun 28, 2011 2:15 pm

I own a 'steel longspear' but can't seem to train it as a mounted polearm. When I equip it while mounted, it still cannot be held in one hand, but does when examined claim to be in the 'mounted polearms' category. However as soon as I dismount (without unequipping) it returns to just being a polearm. My understanding of the help file was that if you equip while mounted it will remain a 'mounted polearm' when you dismount so that you can go inside somewhere to train without bringing your horse, so I'm assuming this is a bug?

You must have the Mounted Combat feat in order to wield a polearm in one hand while mounted.

I will have to check the help file later (on phone now), but this does not sound like a bug. This has been my same experience.

Ah, okay, thanks! This makes sense, and I had sort of wondered if that might be the case, but it does not mention that in the 'mounted polearms' help file. If that info could be added, that would be great.

K. Will review and update as necessary later today. Thanks.

Help mounted polearms and mounted combat feat should be more clear now.

Thanks! Much improved!

Tyrrell, just to be clear - yes, you have to bring your horse in to wherever you find a trainer for the mounted polearms skill. Not so for the feat, as best I recall. We are somewhat flexible on where you can bring a horse - up stairs that lead to a stable, for example, no problem; but not dungeon-crawling, into a house of worship, or up a billy-goat mountain trail.
