Spell: Blasphemy

Post by Pakur » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:24 am

Three teardrops on a triangular pendant glows briefly.
A vial of blessed water glows briefly.
A hollow cone of platinum glows briefly.
a fish seems to shake off the affects of your spell.
You begin to chant.

You regain enough power to cast word of recall.

I've tried this vs. elves in Shilmista and barbarians as well. I've never had a successful cast. The same case with ' word of chaos '

Confirmed. I am not seeing where the problem lies in the spell code, though: spells using similar code (holy smite, sleep) seem to still be working properly. This may take some time to figure out. Thank you for reporting it, we are working on it!

Note to self: I think this spell needs a caster alignment check added to it, like that on Holy Smite.

Alignment related spells

Post by Orplar » Tue Sep 06, 2011 3:05 am

Are the "holy word" , "dictum" , "touch of justice" and other alignment related spells working properly? I haven been able to get either of those three to land on any of the various targets I have attempted, while going along the lines of what is stated in their helpfiles.

Confirmed - something is amiss here. The target creatures are always unaffected by these spells, even when they should be. Merging this with a related bug report on Blasphemy, which seems to similarly fail.

I think I found the problem in Touch of Justice - just a typo in the spell code. Submitted as bug 1008.

As for the others, my hunch now is that calculations in IF clauses are not working. Submitted as bug 1009.

Thanks for taking the time to report this, the extra examples helped me get to a reasonable guess as to what is amiss.

I still seem to be having this issue with the afore mentioned prayers. Holy smite, and Orders wrath seem to be functioning properly however

These all seem to be working now, at least on the testport! Any observations to the contrary, please make them here!

I've had some success with these spells, but I've seen inconsistencies. One that works on ogres, should work on demons/drow/evils however, it does not. With the ogres the Holy Word and ToJ landed pretty regularly, but I can't seem to get a hit on anything else.

I'm not seeing this - most demons and some drow are high enough level that Holy Word only paralyzes and blinds them, but it does something. In my testing ToJ routinely damaged demons and drow (if it overcame the magic resistance of the latter).

Can you give me a specific scenario in (a specific foe against) which this occurs and what echoes you see when you try to cast the spell?
