Belt Giving Wrong Protection

Post by Shayloh » Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:24 am

Item is "a brown leather belt."
It is in perfect condition.
It is leather and is light armour.
It is just the right size for you to wear.
It can be picked up, worn about the waist.
It is worn as armour.
It is small in size.
Despite being leather armor, it only gives a +1 to AC. It's supposed to give +2.

The quality of the armor is playing an effect here. The lower the quality, the lower the AC may be if it's low enough. It is working as intended.

I had thought quality should only affect how easy it is to damage an item?

I traded out a piece of trash for this belt (one that has the word "crude" in its name). The garbage belt I had before was also leather and gave the normal +2. Why is this belt's quality even worse than a "crude" item without some kind of indication in its name?

If the amount of protection is not wrong, perhaps the name is? I propose "a short length of filthy rope" to better describe the item.

The importance of quality and condition both got a boost when armour and weapon types got a makeover a while back.

It looks like
(17331) a crude black leather belt (good, tight)
(and all of its kin) is coded as studded leather, so it probably needs either a type change or a description revision. That's why it is still giving you +2...it is poorly constructed as well.

I'd agree that
(8193) a brown leather belt (perfect)
could use a defamatory adjective in the adjective to make it clearer that it is tattered.

Thanks for the report!
