Drows patrol in the UDW not attacking good characters anymor

Post by Brar » Sat Oct 29, 2011 10:14 pm

Wandering the UDW with Galdim and Gaymor, both LG dwarf and gnome, the drows in the guarded tunnels do not attack them anymore

I'm pretty sure at some point they were attacking with a greet prog and well, they should be attacking anything nondrow anyway.

Give me a room name, please? I will look into this.

This is not drow, but it is underdark, and it is something that I believe is supposed to be an attack on sight creature. To be honest, I am glad it was not attack on sight when we ran into it. But the only other dracolich I have run into was attack on sight.

Cave System
N-Cave System E-Ruins of Dolblu S-Cave System W-Cave System
NE-Cave System NW-Cave System SE-Cave System
The vast network of caverns and tunnels in this area make up a relatively
stable and easy passage through the Underdark. Wide passageways snake through
the honeycombed nether regions of Abeir-Toril, bright stalactites clinging to
the ceilings and melting into their companions, stalagmites rising from the
ground like half-melted candles. Pools of brackish water can be found often,
though deadly to drink as they are so thoroughly polluted with arsenic,
quicksilver and other impure chemicals and substances.

Boulders are strewn about as if by random, though a careful eye might note
that in many places the caverns themselves do not appear to be particularly
stable. Still the floor is somewhat open, and the size of the cave system
makes for a simpler progression than the innumerable brancing tunnels which
would as soon choke the life from an explorer as lead them to any useful
place. Occasionally signs of life can be found among the corners and hidden
places, the odd bones of some unlucky creature, a few mosses which emit a
bright light when brushed against, and even the spoor of creatures far larger
than yourself.
Daurgothoth, a dracolich, meanders here.
Dovan flies in from the west.
You blink.
Dovan looks at Daurgothoth.
This creature is a dracolich, an undead dragon which is imbued
with unnatural life, animating its skeleton and its tremendous
intellect to thrive in death. His length is perhaps eighty feet
from head to tail, he was a great black wyrm in life, in death
he has become something even more. One of the most powerful
beings in all of Faerun, even the Chosen of Mystra give this
creature a wide berth and do not seek to interfere in his
quest for personal perfection.

Daurgothoth is in perfect health.

Room name: Menzoberranzan, Ched Nasad and the guarded tunnels around them.

2 types of wandering, solo male soldier, group of priest/priestess + wizard + soldiers

Perhaps it is worth checking if Dwarves guards around Mithral Hall are still attacking evils too. They did previously.

This kind of Dracolich might be indifferent to attack, according to its description the only thing that can kill it appears to be an army, maybe it just does not care unless provoked?
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

Actually this was a change I made to the area while updating it. Alignment-based attacks seemed like a stupid idea. How does a guard know what your alignment is? I changed them to racially based attacks, though not all races are automatically attacked. A Drow party wouldn't hold back from killing an Elf, but they might ignore a dwarf in a heavily armed party. Dwarves on the other hand, would kill a Drow or a Duergar near their territory. So on and so forth, just tried to make it more reasonable.
