Alrighty, I hear you, cutpurses! However, having no personal experience of this myself I'm really not in a good position to advocate for the more extreme changes that seem to be called for by the majority opinion here. Please keep providing your personal opinions and rationales, and hopefully someone on staff with experience on the rogue end of this will be moved to carry it up the chain to someone with the power to make the required changes...like the top crook, er...Mask!
p.s. Filthy hooligans!
p.p.s. I'm happy to put a concise enhancement request into Bugzilla, if one emerges here. That is, a clear and concise consensus request that specifically relates:
The current situation
The hoped-for new situation
The rationale for the latter as an improvement
Please note that I could easily write the latter for not dying from limb severing, and not having containers confiscated...but it's a good deal trickier for changing the whole risk-reward model for thievery!
Punishment for Mugging
Re: Punishment for Mugging
Not that I have any right saying anything.. my thief caused quite a bit of the rules and implementations that we have to limit thieves today, but I can speak to having to attempt to help others who accidentally gave items to mobs.
I'm not sure that spot currently works vs steal for mobs. They seem to catch me a great deal more than they should for a Halfling with high Dex and high steal skill. The risk is already great for getting caught, which leads me to believe the punishment model is too strict.
I'd prefer not to post my opinion first, as I'm more curious what the more current thief players feel is fair. I will chime in later.
