Elven wizards and double-edged blades

Have any other elven wizards had trouble training/using their double-edged blades skill?

Is it supposed to be un-trainable for them (unless they take weapon proficiency), an inherent racial skill they can not practice?

(Again, I'm elf-dumb, and this is the lazy way for me to look it up, if someone knows for sure off the top of their head...otherwise I'll plumb!)

I'm elf-dumb too, are elves supposed to get this as a racial weapon skill? Wizards don't get double-edged as a weapon class unless they take a weapon proficiency feat.

Elves are supposed to get proficiency feats in longswords, rapiers, long bows, and short bows, but I don't think racial proficiency feats are coded in the game at the moment. Could be kinda cool.

They get the skills as 'other skills known' but cannot train them higher with a trainer - only use. I've never had a problem using them, but it's been a bit.

Ok, thanks folks! That squares with d20, which gives them the weapon proficiency feat in double-edged blades, which in turn allows use without penalty but does not allow one to train further from trainers, only through practice.

Looks like across the board, the race helpfiles need a buff to clarify what the racial benefits and penalties are, including stat adjustments, special abilities, racial feats, and ECL...not just elves! Adding that to the to-do.
