I have good news and bad news. The bad news is this Friday is crawling by so my mind is wandering. The good news is that means a random message board post to make you think/analyze/feel old. Maybe it is all bad news, actually.
Anyway, I saw a question about all time best years for movies which led to me devoting entirely too much thought and time to an internal debate on the subject. So, in an effort to share my insanity, I thought I would post the same question here. What do you think the best year for movies was? I will admit, my viewpoint is somewhat narrow. I was not coherent to anything before the 80's due to my T.V. and movie memories of that time being limited to cartoons. I am also not well versed in 'artsy' or 'avant-garde' movies. I like to laugh, watch explosions, or any combination of the two.
With all that said, here are my two nominations:
1989 (hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_in_film)
Batman - Ever dance with the devil by the pale moon light?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - We named the dog Indiana.
The Abyss - This one impacted me in many many ways as a 15 year old who loved sci-fi.
Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure - Guilty pleasure. Admit it...you loved the movie.
Glory - Good movie but this one sticks with me because of the soundtrack
The Little Mermaid - Darling it's better down where its wetter...take it from meeeeee!
Major League - Big baseball fan here. Still get goosebumps when he walks out to Wild Thing at the end
Field of Dreams - See above. And Vader was in it.
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - Really? Do I need to list any more examples?
Road House - Apparently I do. Pain don't hurt.
UHF - Big Weird Al fan back in the day.
1994 (hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_in_film)
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective - Jim Carrey in his prime. One of my favs, but there is another Carrey film this year that is better.
Blue Chips - Guilty pleasure as a basketball fan. Terrible movie overall but I can't flip past it if I see it on TV
Clear and Present Danger - Han Solo in the CIA? Sign me up.
Clerks - I was a freshman in college in 94. You were not cool unless you liked Clerks. End of story.
Dumb and Dumber - Top three favorite comedy movie of all time on my list.
Forrest Gump - Is there an American that was alive in 1994 that didn't own that soundtrack?
Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla - Just checking to see if you are still paying attention
Interview with the Vampire - The movie that made vampires cool even if they didn't sparkle
The Lion King - Yeah, I enjoyed it. What are you going to do about it?
Natural Born Killers - I loved loved loved this movie. Loved. Never looked at Woody Harrelson the same.
PCU - Jeremy Piven doing what he does best
Pulp Fiction - I don't really need to justify this, do I?
Sirens - This one gathered the largest movie watching crowd at my frat house in the entire four years I was there for two reasons. Elle. Macpherson.
True Lies - Probably my favorite Arnold movie ever.
Timecop - JCVD.
Anyway, just some thoughts. I didn't even throw The Shawshank Redemption on there but I still think 1994 runs away with it. Feel free to comment, throw your own suggestions out there, or ignore this thread completely!

Friday Rambling - Best Year for Movies
Re: Friday Rambling - Best Year for Movies
1952-1976 were the best years.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.
