Proficiency feats in Fighters Guild

Post by Kaaurk » Tue Feb 14, 2012 2:27 am

I was wondering if perhaps we could move the proficiency feats out of the fighters guilds switch them with feats that fighters need. Since fighters get all the weapons as well as automatically get the shield proficiency feats.

Maybe Shield ward, or weapon spec or focus feats

*agree* That'd be nice, but I think they're in there as a mass code push. I don't believe it was intentionally placed there specifically.

This is a fine suggestion that I will keep in mind. Waterdeep's School of Combat already offers some feats above and beyond (in line with the character of that city). The orc one may soon as well; I have asked someone to look into revising that space.

For clarity's sake, trainers who can train a weapon skill will automatically be assigned weapon proficiency and focus feats if the level to which they can train that skill is sufficient. It's not an intentional slap in the face to warriors - just a by-product of this system!

On topic though, I agree that we could use a few more feats in the guilds.

Oh I don't think any one is offended by it Lath just found it kind of redundant. And I was speaking of the Zhentil Keep guild. Honestly haven't seen the Orcish one

I did a rather detailed listing of what is available and missing here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14147&p=90625

Your list is mostly out of date however. All of those feats are trained in the game now. Only two of the four feats you initially listed (you listed one twice and one has been removed) are not trained both in the Underdark and on the surface.

That being said, many feats (those that you listed and others) could use additional trainers and the Builder Council is keeping that in mind as new areas are created and old ones are updated.

Are you talking about the first post I made in there or the more detailed list?

The first list. Your more detailed one which addresses "Greater Weapon Focus" took a little more time to check out than I had this morning.

Greater Weapon Focus is trained in 22 places (9 of which are in the Underdark).

Greater Weapon Specialisation is trained in 11 places (9 of which are in the Underdark).

I do not really have the patience to then go in and figure out exactly which weapons are not represented by those trainers, but suffice to say that there is pretty adequate coverage which we could stand to improve. The easiest way to address this issue is for builders to seek to include feats in their areas and we will review the hows, whys, and whats on our end.

Re: Harroghty:

No problems, thanks for the clarification. That list hasn't been updated in quite some time and I'm sure things have changed a bit since it was made.

Is it possible for the rest of us to help in any way? Suggesting areas where it might be appropriate and accessible? Quest ideas for said feats? Anything to help lighten the load on the primary builders?

You should feel free to submit specific and detailed ideas for overhauls of existing areas where you feel that more feats (and therefore quests) could be added. It should go without saying that those ideas are not certain to be approved and implemented, but if you wanted to help in any way other than building a new area then that would be my recommendation to you.
