Maraedo the Furrier 'uninterested in some fur'
Maraedo the Furrier 'uninterested in some fur'
As the topic says. Weird, given that he works with fur...

Maraedo is probably more accustomed to finer quality furs.

My suggestion is to make those kinds of items sellable. Same goes for vials of blessed water - I've tried selling them to various clerics and no go.
Re: Maraedo the Furrier 'uninterested in some fur'
Try selling them to PC clerics? All of the above are components and you might find people willing to buy them.
Beshaba potatoes.
Re: Maraedo the Furrier 'uninterested in some fur'
There are certain NPCs around the world who may accept spell reagents in exchange for payment - but you won't currently find any vendors who'll buy them with the 'sell' command. As Mele says, player character priests/wizards are probably the best people to sell to. Given how easy some spell reagents are to 'farm' as well, I'd be reluctant to advocate making them buy-able anyway.
On a technical level, the notable issue with setting a vendor to buy spell reagents is the price degradation system, which in its current state means each subsequent item of the same vnum will be bought for less than the last one. In essence: supply and demand. This would mean that the first piece of fur would be worth 2 silver (for example) - but the second will only be worth 1, the next just 5 copper and so on. The coded merchant system just isn't equipped for that sort of thing! This is why things like quills, parchments and Happy Fun Rocks can't be sold either.

Then why do we have un-sellable stuff?
Re: Maraedo the Furrier 'uninterested in some fur'
I get what you're saying. In a normal D&D campaign, you wouldn't really run into this issue.Trillarel wrote:Then why do we have un-sellable stuff?
However, in FK, you're not the only band of adventurers closely inhabiting the same areas. Lots of people are looking to make money and if all the merchants have "vampire teeth" due to static mobs from static areas, then "vampire teeth" become basically worthless.
Again, in D&D you wouldn't encounter this. In D&D you also wouldn't be killing 50 Elder Vampires just to gain a single level, either.

Nothing is 'unsellable'. We are a roleplay enforced mud. With roleplay, interactions with other PC's, you can sell anything.

Obviously you have yet to meet Gwain's socks(tm).Mele wrote:Nothing is 'unsellable'. We are a roleplay enforced mud. With roleplay, interactions with other PC's, you can sell anything.

Nonsense! Those socks have a unique smell that keeps the rats out of the library in the Mystran Temple and a fascinating abrasive quality that can remove any baked-on item from a cooking pot. The only downfall is after about two weeks of use they evolve into some sort of sentient being and run away. Luckily, the supply never seems to run out so I can always purchase more.

That sounds an awful lot like manufactured demand. I think we need some oversight on the merchants' guild.Roderick wrote:[...]after about two weeks of use they evolve into some sort of sentient being and run away. Luckily, the supply never seems to run out so I can always purchase more.

Actually, there is at least one merchant in the game now who will buy (and sell) a wide variety of components. However, they are subject to the price degradation system Lathlain explained.
